Hey what's up with them stopping cars on state and county highways and directing traffic? Haven't they ever heard of jurisdiction?
Wonder what the DA thinks of this?

I was wondering that! I 've also seen YH college security uniforms working at fun world and the movie place? How can they carry guns and stop any violence or make arrests? Aren't they breaking the law by operating outside their college? How can they carry guns in the theater?

And Young Harris lets them drive their YH security cars to the theater to work? Does the college not have a clue what kind of liability that puts them under?

Yeah, let one of those yahoos shoot somebody and see what happens! Or try to make an arrest!

You know you can use force including deadly force to stop an illegal arrest?

Poor JM....

They're also sworn deputies in surrounding counties. The TVA police, even the Georgia Forest Service law enforcement officers are deputies and can arrest you for spitting on the sidewalk if they feel like it. In some states and I don't know if Georgia is one of them, even fire department officials can carry and have authority to make an arrest - for anything, anytime, anywhere.

If spite of being the most policed nation in the world, including Russia and China, we still have the highest crime rate by far. Go figure!

Wrong, and illiterate, as usual, Dumbo. We are far from being the most policed nation in the world, as anyone who has lived under an authoritarian regime can tell you, nor do we have the highest crime rate, as measured by petty, property, or violent crimes. We have the highest incarceration rate, due to our insane drug laws and, some would argue, the growing privatizing, for profit nature, of our prison system.

This week, Bibb County campus police discontinued the practice of directing traffic outside schools on state and local roads. Director of risk management David Gowan said the school system recently found that last year’s passage of House Bill 308 “takes away their jurisdiction to direct traffic off of the school property.” Gowan said the school system is in discussions with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office and the Macon Police Department in an attempt to resolve the matter. As a safety precaution, they recommending drivers use right-hand turns to enter and exit the properties.

Why don't you call and ask the DA about that and see what kind of answer you get? They are well within their jurisdiction almost anywhere in Young Harris even without being deputized. They are certified police officers. Campus Police have jurisdiction within 500 yards of their campus.
