Thank you, again, Billy. I do remember meeting you! Mark's friends were always welcomed in our home; seems as though he introduced us weekly to three or four friends! I must share a funny story with you: On Mark's first high school date, he brought the girl to our home to introduce Papa and me to her before going to the movies.
I have often wondered what she was really thinking!
My sincere sympathy to you and your family in the loss of your little brother. I'm sure you have lots of happy memories with him, just as we do with Mark. Thank you, also, Wayne. Not only did I teach your sons in first grade, you very unselfishly came to Gainesville with Mark to visit Papa in the hospital. I appreciate all that his friends did for him. I miss his smiles and laughter, but I know he is at peace with his Lord. Nanny
Well this I promise you, Mark is Happy in Heaven and all its wonders. My family and I have asked ourselves a thousand times if we could bring Tim back would we? And the answer is always the same, he is in the promise land with everlasting life, no pain , no more tears or pain from this earth...him and Mark have Eternal Life of Peace, Happiness, Love and Joy. and most of all they are getting our mansion in Heaven ready for our homecoming. He is at the right hand of our Lord and Savior and I know he has the GREATEST, BIGGEST AND MOSTB BEAUTIFUL SMILE that nobody can take away from him!

Billy, thanks for starting this post. For those of you that are posting that have a problem with Billy, please take that up with him somewhere else. Mark you will be missed... To the family, you are in our thoughts and prayers...
Good to hear from you Wayne and I pray you are doing well. It is sad that while Honoring Mark you have those who stoop to the lowest level to talk about others.
You know me, they are more than welcome to start athread about me, all I ask as that if they are going to say something negative leave your name.
Mark will be greatly missed and he turned out to be a Great Dad!
Take care and Be Safe Brother

Before I Go

by Anonymous

When my life has reached its very end,
And I take that final breath;
I want to know I've left behind,
Some "good" before my death.

I hope that in my final hour,
In all honesty I can say:
That somewhere in my lifetime,
I have brightened someone's day.

That maybe I have brought a smile
To someone else's face,
And made one moment a little sweeter
While they dwelled here in this place.

Lord, please be my reminder
And whisper softly in my ear ...
To be a "giver," not a "taker,"
In the years I have left here.

Give to me the strength I need,
Open up my mind and my soul ...
That I might show sincere compassion,
And love to others before I go.

For if not a heart be touched by me,
And not a smile was left behind ...
Then the life that I am blessed with,
Will have been a waste of time.

With all my heart, I truly hope
To leave something here on earth ...
That touched another, made them smile
And gave to my life ... worth.

Mark you touched more people than you'd ever know and for that God has a Special Place in Heaven Just For You!!

Lucy, Nobody will ever be able to answer that or really understand why. My Baby Brother was 34 and he lost his battles within himself. He knew Mark and Loved Mark after the first time they met. They Best thing we can do for the families who have lost loved ones is to pray for them each and everyday that God provides them with comfort and encouragement day by day. I have had my fair share of those close to me who took their life and its something I struggle with everyday. The Good Lord, family/friends and most of all a very understanding wife has helped me move forward each day. and each day is a struggle within. Mark was a Great Man and Served his Country and Law Enforcement as a K-9 Handler, and that makes him a SPECIAL BREED OF PERSON!

Suicide is not heroic. It is a choice for cowards. It allows selfish people to hurt the living one final time. It leaves parents, family, friends and children scared for life. Suicide is not what brave people do. They face their problems head on. It's not always easy but it is the right thing to do.
Friends that come to the defense of people who commit suicide are simply trying to justify their lack of involvement prior to the act. It might make them feel better but it changes nothing.
There are many good people who die young. There are many people who face their demons everyday and find the courage to deal with them. There are many people who would never leave their family intentionally. Those people are heroes and should be praised.
The ones who take their own life soul not be forgotten because everyone contributes something to this world. But, they should not be praised by anyone.
Christians are taught suicide is a ticket to Hell. Read the bible.

The Bible also teacjes that we are not to pass judgment on others. It God who decides who gets into Heaven and who gets a ticket tyo hell. It is our job and place in life to reach out to those in need and when we dont, well that makes us cowards and failures to those people. God looks at the Good and Bad. Humans will NEVER BE PERFECT CHRISTIANS LIKE CHRIST so dont forget to pick up you ticket on the way out!

Oh really? Didn't have anything to do with you asking for a fallen officer's shift the same day he passed? Everyone knows the truth.

Unfortunately, this assessment is pretty spot on. We make heroes out of people who commit suicide. Look at the Reece memorial. Which is really more heroic....living and working through life's events or takng ourselves out of the game? Hurting loved ones who will forever have that legacy? A person may do great things in life....and certainly serving one's country is great. Someone should have stepped in, but people can only do so much....

Thought this great justice fighter for the oppressed ALWAYS put his name on here....doesn't seem to be the case, however....So...does that shed any light or simply more questions as to whether he ALWAYS tells the truth, as well?

There is a DIFFERENCE in asking to COVER the shift UNTIL they could find someone else than asking for the shift! By the way, this was asked BEFORE he passed!
