Anyone heard that the Spanish teacher at TCHS was fired for romatic involved with a student? They sure are keeping it quiet, but she is gone. This on top of the school board member being involved in the handbag scandal, and the Sheriff's Dept scandal. Not good for our little county.

Mr. Tod Nusse...are you from here? Because those little name calling for our town is really uncalled for. It really affends me to have people label us like that. We may be a small area that IS in the mountains but backwards and "podunk" and "redneck"....not everyone is like that. Please do not catergorize everyone as a whole.

Not the first time, either - and has anything legally happened to any of them rather than being allowed to move on!!!!!!!!!

Yes, and every one of them (the other Spanish teacher, the band teacher, the science teacher using his planning period for off-campus liaisons, the drinking/pot smoking science teacher, the math teacher who had brain farts and couldn't teach but was a COACH ---- and recently the coach who was "working-out" with the parapro, AND OTHERS --- were all hired from out of the county to straighten up the place!!!!!!!!!! yeah, right!!!!!!!

The young man was 16 yrs old...didn't something similar happen in Florida with an attractive high school teacher and one of her male students where the teacher was charged and I believe sentenced to jail time? Then there is the black high school senior in Douglasville who had football scholorship, he was sentenced to I believe 10 yrs in prison for having sex with a girl a couple of years younger than him. What's fair for one isn't necessarily what's thought to be fair for another is it? Same with the fake handbag scandal...it was illegal and yet she remains uncharged and serving on our county school board as I understand it.

We have some outstanding examples of morales on display for our young people between these two ordeals and Towns Counties finest Sheriff's Dept. not to mention the others serving in public service capicities who haven't been mentioned to speak of yet.

While we are on the subject of the county schools. I posted this in another thread, but it may be more fitting here.

The school board has spent mega bucks having cameras installed in hallways of the high school. They have no more students than they did 30 years ago, and now have Principal and Vice-Princpals, the school has been divided into elementary, middle and high school so they have 6 principals doing what 3 used to do, and still need to spend all that money on cameras and hire someone to monitor them...What's wrong with this picture??? Does no one do their job anymore? Are the cameras being installed to watch the students or did they put them in to be sure there is no more hanky-panky between teachers and students? Either way it is costing the taxpayers a fortune and if the principals were doing their jobs there shouldn't be a need for cameras in my opinion.

Odd, I didn't expect that kind of reaction. There are ALOT of fine upstanding, christian, law abiding, EDUCATED, sophisticated people in our town. Unfortunately we are all surrounded by those who would prefer to live up to the R-word stereotype. I was merely being flippant, maybe I should have said. "Here we go again"

I'm happy for the new security for our kids after hearing about all the school shootings in the past few years. And you statement about the school having the same number of students now as they did 30 years ago shows how ignorant you are about what is going on in that school. Don't speak on things that you know nothing about. You really expect one principal to be able to see every hall, be in every room, and maintain peace all by themselves. That's cute.

Everyone wants their children safe at all times! I dont think Townsresident said they expected one principal to take care of everything but there are 6 now and yes, I agree they should be able to take care of the students without cameras in the hallways. Outside cameras I can understand a little more.

And, yes FYI there are about the same number of students now in Towns County as there were 30 years ago...I believe to date the largest graduating class was in the early 90's and next to that it was one in the early 80's. Perhaps others know more than you give them credit for.

So you think Towns County built a brand New Elementary school that is full of students, and the old school is packed with classrooms full of middle and high school students for no reason? Just because the graduating class size is similar doesn't mean the school isn't growing. I bet you couldn't fit half the classrooms in that old building that is now needed for all of the students. Perhaps they don't know and just assume.

Why don't you check for yourself? The teachers back then averaged 30 students to a room where now they have 18-20...more room needed for those smaller class sizes. And I'm not knocking smaller class sizes by any means, students get more out of a smaller class.

We have illegal mexican kids going to tc school. One just graduated got scolarships. Welfare gave her 500.00 after graduation and us taxpayers paid for the birth of her baby. A foster family now is raising that baby and keeps the girl to while she goes about town with boys, men, yes, mexicans.WE also paid for the girls hip surgery.I called the school before the end of the year and ask why mexicans that did not attend school hung out on the grounds with teenage girls. I was told they didnt that the grounds were monitered.WE dont really have a school.I a not sure we ever did.

Townsresident is correct. I remember being in classes with over 30 students, now few if any of the classes have 20 in them. And, then there are several different Special Ed classes with only a couple of students, and Pre-K, Headstart, Music, Art and other specials we didn't have back in the day. That's all good, and the kids benefit from it, but the point is more room was need for all the changes in the school, not for that many additional children. And, six principals along with all the other admin. staff should be able to do what 2 used to do without monitoring the halls with cameras...and can one person watch every camera all day? or will that entail more than one for viewing purposes?

I go and enjoy the track at the school and even the Tennis courts on a weekly basis. I've never seen Mexicans hanging out with teenage girls at that school unless they go to school there. And guess what....The government makes schools enroll students regardless of legality. I can't believe that you are typeing those lies. I think we have a school, but we apparently do not have a supportive community. I'm not sure we ever have.
