I attended Eastgate Church for almost seven years. I know Greg & Lisa Roberts very well. I no longer attend there and even though I do not agree with Greg on all of his doctrinal beliefs, I know that Greg & Lisa are good people and they do not deserve your vicious slander. Do they have things in their past I know they regret? Sure. Don't you? This thread is wrong in so many ways that it is ridiculous. This is nothing but gossip spreading and my heart breaks for Greg & Lisa knowing this assanine talk is going on. I know this post will not do anything to stop this cruel thing that you are doing to them, but I felt it right to defend him because I know that he has defended me when he didn't have to. He has never been carried into Eastgate on poles. No one ever thought furniture was possessed with devils. My goodness...how ridiculous! For the person that says he was an eyewitness of seeing his congregation bringing him in on poles...you are a liar! Greg and Lisa if you read this, know that even though I no longer attend your church and even though we couldn't agree on everything, I am your friend. You were good to me and my family and I won't forget it.
I didn't say he was carried in on poles. I said he was carried in...and that's a fact. Since I saw it myself, you will never convince me otherwise. That is not slander, that's the truth.

I apologize for misquoting you, but still...he was NEVER carried in. You don't care about the truth...you just simply want to gossip. This will be my last comment and the last time I read this forum because it's pointless to argue with anyone who insists on hurting innocent people.

Whatever...
I was even told before I attended, what to expect.
If he and the congregation were going to be ashamed of this after the fact....shouldn't have done it in the first place.

I attended both services on the first (and only) Sunday I went. I also attended a healing service.
The atmosphere was wonderful and uplifting until Greg started preaching. I actually e-mailed him on the reasons I would not continue attending.

I don't really care if he was carried in or not. His preaching was very negative. He blamed the devil for all his woes.

Why does anyone care about this church?

Personally, I just laugh when someone says they hear the voice of God and speak for him. Unfortunately, lots of church leaders say things like that.

There will always be people who want to believe that this person or that person knows the will of God and is greater than they are. And they will follow another person to the ends of the Earth hoping they are in God's confidence.

There is nothing you can do for these people. If you criticize their leaders, they will just defend them.

There are people in this world who have sacrificed their own kids to church leaders who demanded them for sexual purposes. Not saying that Eastgate would do anything like that, but it goes to show how far some people will go to follow someone.

You all might as well give yourselves a vacation from all this, because you aren't going to change the minds of anyone who goes there.

Maybe it's a good place. Maybe it's a bad place. Who knows? The members are gonna keep going regardless.

11 It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, 12 to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. 14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. 15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

This is one of the scriptures this church bases their beliefs. They don't do any of the things posted here. As a former member of this church I can honestly say although Greg's personality could use a little work, he is a man that truly loves God. You should all be ashamed of yourselves for attacking someone you don't even know.

I have asked some questions that have obviously ruffled some Masonic as well as Eastgate feathers. This is a forum for these kind of questions. It is to bad “Apostle” Roberts or anyone in his church can’t simply answer the questions. Instead , they want to find out who I am. Once again it is time for me to let myself down the wall in my basket. It is not safe for me to venture into this theater. I will meet with the “Apostle” but in my time not his.
What do you mean no one will answer you questions, Looks to me like they been answered, And why would we want to know who you are it is very obvious who you are,You are: A GOSSIPER!

I attend Eastgate Church; my family and I have been attending since January of this year. Both of my children attend Eastgate Life Academy. They were home schooled before the school began it's first year in September.

I just wanted to introduce myself. Me and my family are business owners and have always thought for ourselves. We have never felt a part of a church family before, ever, until now. The teachings are straight from the Bible and challenge us to grow in our faith and in our love for God and our families. We are taught to be successful and have shalom (nothing missing, nothing broken) in our families, bodies, finances, spirit, you name it. I can't begin to explain how our lives have changed and the blessing of God has attached itself to us since we have aligned ourselves with this man of God and body of believers.

Having said that, I'm getting the biggest kick out of reading about Apostle Greg's being carried in so that his feet didn't touch the ground. While I've never seen that happen personally, I wouldn't put it past some of the goof-balls that are a part of the church. We love to have fun. But, Apostle Greg is not esteemed higher than any man. He simply is allowed to walk in his calling as are all of us who are a part of this body.

I need to say one more thing. After reading the misconceptions and gossip that has gone on here, I have learned to keep my mouth shut about things I know nothing about. No one can know what has been done or said until they see with their own eyes and hear with their own ears. I will be very careful in the future that I don't get caught in the same trap as so many have here. Let just learn to walk in love and speak only those things that edify, and these kinds of bloated lies will cease.

This guy is a fake.
I know him and most everybody in their church.
The locals here KNOW this church is a cult.
I can't wait till they actually drink the kool aid Greg gives them.
Which by the way, someone should study the Jones story, and find waaaayyy too many coincidences in these two "churches."
Anyways...
Oh, and they claim to "feel" something charismatic, like real Pentecostals do.
Just to put in, that Lucifer has his own spirit too.

Why do you give a shit what people at the church do? Is it your business if it is a cult and all of them drink "kool aid?" Hell no.Keep your nosy ass out of others business and the world will be a lot better off.Worry about your own faults, or are you too busy worrying about everyone else in town?

I have studies the Jones story. At matter of fact, I studied it in my CJ classes in college. Oh, by the way I go to Eastgate myself.... You know what, there are no similarities between the two. The fact that you say you know most of the people who attent; if you truly did know us, you would know this is crazy. This whole forum boils down to one thing. Our church is different from most churches around and just because we are different, in the minds and opinions of the town, makes us wrong. My heart really goes out to to people like you who already make up you mind before seeing the proof. We are good people, normal people, who choose to go to a different church that you. So what is so wrong with that!

A member of this fine church is a liar. He has a job concerning the welfare and safety of Towns County, yet "looks the other way" to protect certain businesses in town. Why is that? In one case, is it because of the alleged affair between a business owner and the wife of a local preacher?

Who knows who...and who has something on whom!??

Sounds like you have a mouth like your preacher..or apostle or what ever. He has a potty mouth too, but it's ok he is "just so angry at the devil it makes him cuss". Hahaha

Although Eastgate is not a cult in the most extreme manner, it is indeed turned more towards a cult than the members even realize. One classic sign of a cult is that it is personality-driven. That means it has a charismatic leader or group of leaders who hold a tremendous amount of sway over members. Greg really wants to be this powerful figure in his members lives. He is very dissatisfied unless he feels respected. Another reason it leans toward a cult is because of the isolation. Isolation takes the form of members becoming completely absorbed in the group and its activities, If members work, go to school and socialize only with each other, isolation is a real possibility Greg is taking baby steps into isolation. Anyone or anything that would raise troubling questions about the group is marginalized to the extreme, cut off.” Also common is a persecution complex, Members often have an “us- versus-them” attitude, perceiving simple disagreements as attacks.
They say criticizing them is to go against God. This is a big one. The church really feels superior and that they are getting better information than any other church. They hold themselves in the highest light yet produce the least fruit. Greg has the attitude that he is to be served, rather than to serve for others. He does not understand the very office he is trying to hold. He is very controlling so he does things to intimidate his members, like taking attendance at every service, not being sociable, making his members feel stupid, or less than for not understanding what he thinks he does. He also feels it is ok to divorce your spouse if they do not agree with his doctrine, this is a scary one. When he took his daughter out of school because he was afraid he couldn’t control her, the whole church followed, blissfully unaware. They will not eat at McDonalds, or let their children that attend the school wear any clothes with writing , tommy, AE Gap….so on. It is all controlling and sad. GO see for yourself.
