I love dogs and like cats. It is the owners who drive me crazy by allowing their dogs to bark for hours on end or allowing their pets to roam. It is very inconsiderate. I do not blame the pets. I blame the owners.

The dogs bark all the time because they hear the whiny, irritating voices that these Floridiots and Yankees have.

Not from Florida. Just a law abiding citizen who worked very hard to achieve the "American dream" of home ownership.

I had no idea it would include dealing with dogs barking non stop for hours, neighbor's pets coming on to my property getting in to my garbage, taking dumps in my yard,...and me picking it up because I actually take pride in how my yard looks. Cats (there are allergies to) coming on to my yard and spraying.

Are you saying that it is okay for you as a pet owner to allow your pets to be a nuisance to me because you are not a responsible pet owner just because you are a "local" and I was not born and raised here?

Your pets will be welcome to have free reign in my yard when you pay the bills at my house. Otherwise you would be better off to keep them off of my property. Thanks in advance.

This is nothing that a dog bowl and some antifreeze won't cure...

Yeah, but how do you get the owner to drink it? I really do not blame the animals. They are doing what dogs and cats do when left unsupervised. It is up to the owner to be responsible.

Could you please enlighten me on how you would go about making a dog not bark? As a dog owner, if I go and hit or smack my dog to make it quit barking, then I am taking a risk of being arrested for animal abuse. I don't know how many actual people out there are "dog whisperers" and can talk a dog out of barking - I have yet to see any! Dogs bark - that is the way God made them! Yes - they can be annoying at times but there is no real way to make a dog stop barking unless you shoot it and again arises the problem of being accused of abuse and you will be arrested if you do that! Dogs are not like kids - you cannot talk to them, bribe them, or persuade them to shut up! They may hush for a few minutes while you are standing there but turn you back and walk back into the house and they are at it again!
It amazes me that out of all the issues we face - people have nothing better to do with their time than gripe cause their neighbors dog barks!!

Sorry to be such a disappointment to you - "The truth" but no - I do not have any children nor do I have any animals at this time. I was just simply stating a fact that most people cannot make their dog quit barking without doing harm to them or even worse, killing them. Dogs barking is just a fact of life - as long as they are breathing, they are going to bark sooner or later! And, some bark more than others! I was hoping that instead of a rude remark, someone would tell us all ways to make dogs quit barking. Sorry my previous post got your panties in a wad, jackass. Maybe you are the one who needs a good antifreeze margarita.

There's so much fail in this comment that I don't even know where to begin. Is there a way to entice Topix posters into drinking antifreeze?

The bottom line is that if you can't control your dog, then you probably shouldn't have one. Dog ownership (and parenting, for that matter) isn't for everyone.

And if you can't control your dog and it keeps your neighbors up all night. Well...don't be surprised if goes missing one day.
