sounds like $3.5 million wasted dollars. They will spend maybe 1/3 of that for training, and the rest will be piddled away on office parties and supplies.

they going to train them to collect money, like the commuters trains in new york. tri rail is a real forest.no humans at the train stations, no rest rooms at stations. was going to use a vending machine but stunk so bad aof urine, was awful.

They need to hire security officers to ride the on Miami-Dade Transit buses. I notice security officers on the Metrorail but not on the buses. The drivers don't do a very good job of removing the bums, panhandlers, drunks, mental cases, or perverts who ride the buses and harass and annoy passengers. They also need to do a better job of policing some of terminals in downtown Miami to arrest the panhandlers and drunks. I generally avoid riding the buses at night because I don't like being harassed. I won't ride some routes at all. During the winter months, it is unavoidable because it gets dark earlier. I lot more women like myself would feel more secure if they had security officers ride some of the routes.

It's worth noting (because the article didn't) that the 1.1 million-dollar camera and security call system installed last year is still NOT OPERATIONAL.

Why can't Tri-rail and Metrorail hire REAL security officers (read: POLICE oficers) like other cities (Atlanta, New York). I ride Metrorail every day and the security oficers at the outlying stations just lounge around. There is no visibility of security. They are nice and helpful, don't get me wrong, but I do not feel secure with them.

They should use the money to reduce fairs and improve customer service. Compared to any other metro transit system in the USA, they stink.

What training?? You see something wrong, you know right from wrong right, and you use your walky-talky to call it in. No money required.

Well put. But no, they will put a bunch of monkeys on there, who will sit there and make calls on their cell phones all day.

At least now someone will be riding Tri Rail. But to pay them $3.5 million seems a bit expensive.

It's fine as long as it doesn't interfere with the traditional peace and tranquility in the community of riders who depend on them. No money in the world is worth losing that.
