When the going gets tough, the weak get going. This is the first we have heard from Dan Darnell, the Runt was arrested in Texas by the FBI. I wonder what Runnels is going to do now for a sponsor, what about Rob Mayes ? My guess is Mayes will be ok, since he is building up Sandel's father's neighborhood and Mary Fisher is getting her water line. It is going to get interesting pumping Kirtland's sewage uphill to the waste water treatment plant; look out Kirtland you will be annexed.

Thank You for your service.

I will vote for Chili Yazzie as Mayor and David John as Vice-Mayor.... two donkeys (JA)makes a good team for City of Farmingon.

I think Standley & Sharpe have a handle on what the economic outlook is for Farmington & want no part of it.

I'm your average joe who has lived/moved & returned to Farmington twice since 2001. I met Mayor Standley on several occassions. He's a very approachable person. I truly believe he has the interest of all residents in his heart. I was surprised to see him at the Navajo Code Talker Congressinal Medal ceremony in Washington, DC in 2001. He was there as a Marine supporting fellow Marines. My respect for him grew from then on. Best of luck Bill!

I was surprised to see Tom Taylor's name mentioned in the same article as Bill Standley. Standley (as with most socialist democrats) has done very little to suppress the drug trade in Farmington, in fact to the contrary he has sat back and watched it build. If it were not for the FBI, very few arrests would have been made during the time he has been Mayor. |
You are exactly right, the reason things are the way they are is because they want it that way - now it will be left to others to rebuild the City's coffers and clean up the mess. |

12 years of service is really good track record for a mayor. He would easily have won another 4 years. Honorable Mayor William Standley has done tremendous well in such a crisis time and when we are in a crisis mode. He did well with collaboration with Navajo or Native American relations. He is secure, listen, concern, and takes actions. That is how I know him. He is a friend and I will miss him as mayor of Farmington. We are not all there yet, but I feel he was such a positive figure of Farmington.

It is time for people to rise and demand a better form of government. 12 years in office for a mayor and over 21 for a councilor is far too long. Farmington and its outlining communities need new faces, new ideas, new management initiatives and different visions to prepare Farmington and the area torwards to a better tomorrow for ALL its citizens.
People, it is time for change! It is time to add ethnic diversity to this government so that we can all understand the existing social problems that plague this community and together explore possible solutions to the problems. Together we can overcome adversity....."El pueblo unido, jamas sera vencido." Where are the people that can make an impact and stimulate change. Its not just about generating wealth but its also about giving back to your community....that community that helps to generate the wealth. In the 10-years plus I've been in the area I've seen names such as Garcia, Briones, Serrano, Silva, etc., and businesses identified with Hispanic names yet I in the period of existence of the City of Farmington (since 1901), there HAS NOT been an official of Hispanic descendance appointed to the city government. I am willing to come forward (at the right time and place) or support someone who is committed to making positive changes in this community. |

HUH!

Hey CL. Now's your chance to show us what you got. Step up, dud-err dude.
To ChangeWeCanBelieveIn: Someone has to run before they can be elected, our city government is not "appointed". So if there has not been a Hispanic person in the City government it is not the public's fault.
Standley and the City Councilors set up a Discrimination Commission to isolate themselves from hearing such complaints. An American is a Comanche, Cherokee, Osage, Blackfoot, Navajo, Apache, Seminole or one of the many other tribes known as Native Americans. An American may also be English, or French, or Italian, Irish, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian or Greek. An American may also be Canadian, Mexican, African, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Australian, Iranian, Asian, or Arab, or Pakistani or Afghani. An American can be Christian, or he could be Jewish, or Buddhist, or Muslim. You are right, it is time to change out this socialist administration ! |
Please don't get me wrong. I am not blaming anyone, I am just bringing up the fact that despite the fact that there's so much hispanic influence in the area, there's no representation in government. |
The Mayor and Council set up the commission at the recommendation of the U.S. Civil Rights Commission, you twit. Not to isolate themselves. Here's the exact verbiage from the U.S. Civil Rights Commission 2005 report. In its 1975 report, the Advisory Committee recommended that the city of Farmington establish a human relations committee "representative of all significant racial, cultural, and economic groups in the community." The Committee also suggested that ordinances and administrative mechanisms be put in place for addressing complaints of discrimination. Thirty years later, we still believe that these recommendations are appropriate. Also, you wouldn't know a socialist from a prairie dog. |
Some of us will miss Mr. Standley very much...he is a very open and approachable mayor and very kind- hearted...I really hope whoever runs for mayor will consider everyone as equal and do a fair job in representing all citizens in Farmington. We don't need an unapproachable and unequal leadership to take his place.
Good post. We also don't need to disrespect him for his service. He has done his best for our community and he deserves our thanks. |
Guess that means we can't count "Dee Montano" again....oh yeah, she wasn't appointed, she was elected... |
And she was a complete idiot. |
The report you sight was written by socialist democrats to divide out and isolate racial groups from normal society. The same democrats that give to each according to his political contribution; one could say that the reason Farmington's City Administration has not appointed someone other than 'Caucasian' to the top administrative City Jobs is the lack of political contributions from that 'someones' racial group. |
