There is a notable absence in this article of information about the effects of hysterectomy. The uterus is a hormone responsive reproductive sex organ that supports the bladder and the bowel. Women who experience uterine orgasm will not experience it without their uterus. The vagina is sutured shut at the top, made into a shortened, closed pocket. The ligaments, nerves, and blood supply that attach to the uterus are severed. When only the uterus is removed a woman has a 3 times greater risk of heart disease. If the ovaries are removed she has a 7 times greater risk of heart disease.
Whether the uterus is removed by a gynecologist controlled robot, an engineer, or a car mechanic, the loss of the functions of the female organs is the same. The loss is permanent, and the damage to the pelvis and vagina is permanent. For more information about the effects of hysterectomy visit http://www.hersfoundation.org/anatomy . Say no 'til you know.
