Yeah, and just how many workers will be Hispanic that have came over from Mexico in the last few years? We are losing our jobs fast to them. That's what I think GM and Ford have planned and others. I have noticed many plants are terminating positions, not laying off as in years past. Then when that bail out money to the banks start flowing and these companies capitalize on it..it's goodbye John and hello Juan. Pretty sad what the govt did to our country. I'm compassionate, but to our people needed those jobs.

There's a developer in Grand Rapids by the name of Sam Cummings. I have heard it was his grandparents that started Gerber. Mucho bucks.

Gerber Products Company is a purveyor of baby food and baby products. The company was founded in 1927 in Fremont, Michigan by Daniel Frank Gerber, owner of the Fremont Canning Company producing canned fruits and vegetables. At the suggestion of a pediatrician, Gerber's wife (Dorothy Gerber) began making hand-strained food for their seven-month-old daughter, Sally. Seeing a business opportunity, Gerber began devoting resources at the cannery to baby food production. By 1928, Gerber had developed five products for the market: strained peas, prunes, carrots and spinach, and beef vegetable soup. Six months later, Gerber's baby foods were distributed nationwide.

Today two family members sit on Gerber's 15-member board - Daniel F. Gerber Jr., who is 45 and owns 5.51 percent of the company's shares, and his brother-in-law, Harrington M. Cummings, who owns 5.27 percent. Is this the guy you are speaking of?

Why can't we comment on the interest rate cut?????????? Why doesn't someone do something about the greedy credit card companys that are raising their interest rates higher and higher. A lot of people have accumulated credit card debt that they would not have normally done, just to stay afloat in these wonderful times, when our water bills have been raised, heating bills, gas prices, groceries, etc. I know this is off topic, but we did not get a chance to respond to what the feds are doing with interest rates.

Say what you want, believe what you want, but Nestle is the best thing to happen to Fremont. They are not only interested in the company and growing it into a research center, but they are committed to the community and the schools. If you knew the money they've handed over and the financial commitments they've made for the future, most people would be blown away. Fremont has a golden opportunity here, and hopefully the community will recognize it and support it.

Agree, it isn't a surprise for those of us who live here. I live in the middle of the darn "buffalo farm". The Cumming's family do what they want and us little people have to accept. Well, Andy and Christine, I'll sell my four acres....NOT TO YOU!

give me a break-remember MPI? Read between the lines COULD add 200 more jobs-and in what time frame? 8 million expansion. Think that may take a little time? Lets keep the "masses" happy and tout the party line.
