If in fact it is found that Mr. Mandy is as fault that's why it's called an accident! Even if it's due to the airbag hitting him in the face (which by all accounts hurts like mad)it's still an accident!

But, on the same token, I totally agree with WhyWhyWhy and their quoted material!!!!!!

It may have something to do with punks throwing tomatoes at the old mans car the day before too.

In my opinion, everyone should have to retake the test every ten years. I have seen plenty of people of all ages that don't seem to understand the concept of driving.

I'm happy to see this article. My brother was the one he was involved in the accident with last year and I thought at that point his driver's license status should have been questioned.

My friend's son was one of the boys hit. The officers told my friend that Mr. Mandy's airbag deployed and knocked him in the face causing him to accelerate. So it's not meds that made him do that...it's something that could happen to any one of us. Don't judge before you know all the facts. I do agree that if we have a minimum age to drive we should have another test for drivers over a certain age.
Think of this this way. If his foot was on the accelerater when the airbag went off and NOT the brake that means that he was never braking to avoid the original accident. He and a lot of others need to sit down and realize like the gentleman said above and give it up.

Why don't the police computers and the PENNDOT computers keep track of these things, and take away licenses?

It's easy fo you young people to instantly blame old age as the problem. be careful what you ask for because someday you to wil be old. Age is not necessary the problem here. it could be that mr. mandy was always imcompetent at driving.

What are you suggesting?

-get in 3 or more accidents and get your license taken away?
-get in 3 or more accidents when you are over 65 and get your license taken away?

Still judging without all the facts. It could be that he did have the right-of-way and he should have had his foot on the accelerator. also it could be that the accelerator stuck from the impact.

I totally agree - there are way too many people who so blantantly take the PRIVILEGE of driving too lightly. Slow down, hands on the wheel, put down the cell phones, quit tailgating, etc., etc. We'd all be a lot safer if everyone would be a little more patient and use some common sense.

When my Padre (Dad) was driving in his 80's, he always had one foot on the accelerator and one foot on the brake. Have you seen other older driver's brake lights on as they were moving forward on the highway?

Now you know the rest of the story. Good day.

And this would be why after you hit the age of retirement, you should be tested for your driving every couple of years or so.

I don't mean to say...no donations, it's just not fair to this family to have to ask. His insurance needs to take care of this.
First off by law the insurance don't have to do anything till charges are officially final of the drivers fault. I suggest to the family to get an attorney. They will need it!!! And may I ask why the medical bills are asking to be paid so soon after the accident? I know from experience from my sons accident. Call those people up and explain to them it is an auto insurance coverage payout coming due. It took me over a year to collect from the drivers auto insurance for my sons accident and that was with having an attorney. Automobile insurance does not strike out payment right away, when criminal or court hearings need to be dealt with. Has the offical police report been filed yet? It all takes time and system works slow!

YOURRRRRR so correct and bless you for saying. Tell it how it is! Most of those complaining about the elder drivers are the drivers in a hurry to rush rush rush! Cell phone users when driving are not the elder generation. So stop nagging on our elders! My prayers go out to this family and the daughter. I know I have been there. And please get legal help!

I am not sure if I am judging without facts, the police report says that on impact the airbag deployed and he smashed the accelerator. So you are saying that even if you have the right-of-way it is ok not to try to avoid the accident? Regardless if he had the right-of-way or not he obviously didn't have enough reflexes to get on the brake pedal otherwise he would have smashed the brakes instead of the gas. With an attitude of "well he had the right-of-way" you should have your license taken. And to all of you people that say "don't pick on old people you will be old one day" and "stop nagging on the older generation". I bet you would be the first one on here beating up on a young person for something like this. Switch shoes between the young lady and the driver of the car, bet there would be a song of a different tune coming from you all.

Daily Horoscope for December 8

Leo

If you're worried about running up big debts in what is usually one of the most expensive months of the year, start keeping a running total of how much money you've spent so far. You might have to restrict the amount you spend on Christmas presents, or make other savings in order to stay within your budget, but you realize the folly of ending up severely out of pocket.
