I just do not understand how Yoplait can continue to operate as they have.
When I go into the store, I make SURE that I buy ANY OTHER YOGURT but Yoplait. Having worked there, I cannot BEGIN to tell you what went on in that factory. Were I to DO so, it would turn you off yogurt forever. I DO wish however, that the MMPA and the USDA would make "pop" inspections, instead of planned ones. Then perhaps, things would REALLY come to light about what goes on behind closed doors. Trust me, you would be surprised! |

I would like to ask; were you fired from this plant or did you leave on your own? You sound as if your bitter over being fired?
|
||||

Not fired, left because of medical reasons.
I have no "grudges" per se of Yoplait - I just worked there, I saw what went on behind the scenes, and I saw and HEARD of the coverups. |

If You saw most things You eat made You wouldn't eat them. If You saw a lot of rest. kitchens same thing. What makes You think Dannon is any different.

Wile E.- ignorance is bliss, lol - I do not WORK at Dannon, never did. But, did Dannon ever have someone get 1/3 of a finger chopped off in the fruit pump, only to have the teamleaders come and sift through the strawberries, then just hose everything down with iodine, put the parts back together and start running? Have you ever SEEN machines that have black mold HANGING from them? Have you ever had inferior product that YOU did not want to run, and then ran it anyway, KNOWING it was bad, but Quality Control told you to run it anyways?(Thank heavens the operator had QC initial THAT paperwork). I have seen teamleaders pick cups OUT of the garbage and put them back on the table, I have seen a maintenance teamleader SPIT into a nearby garbage can (HELLO, can you say UNIVERSAL PRECAUTIONS ANYONE????). What about taking the milk receiving pipes off and having maggots come out at you? The list goes on and on. And yet, they continue to pass inspection. WHY? Well because when it's TIME for an inspection, the powers that be have all the underlings running around like mad cleaning anything and evrrything in sight. I wish some day that the USDA and the MMPA would make a surprise inspection.
Yes, I will eat Dannon, I am sure there are horror stories there too - but, like I said, what I don't know, won't hurt me. By the way, read somewhere that Fig Newtons are ALLOWED to have such and such a percentage of bug parts in their figs, and not ALL of that crunching when you bite into a Fig Newton is fig seeds. You got it, I don't eat Fig Newtons anymore either! |

P.S. baby food is allowed to have 2 rat hairs per jar - read that one years ago, may have changed since then though.

I worked at Yoplait for a summer, and can confirm the comments by "Not Mad" were true. I left voluntarily... they wanted me but I did not want to be part of what I saw. It's all about ethics.

I'm not sure that I would buy anything that was made in Reed City.... yogurt is just one example.

Ok, I do not even know where to start with all of this. But lets go with the maggots in the milk receiving pipes..Hmm, did you forget to mention that those lines had not been in use in over six months? I mean come on. If you want to put some dirt on here, lets at least be factual! And about the finger, they were sifting through looking for her finger so it could be reattached, not so it could be packaged and sold. Do you have ANY idea how much product was thrown away both before and after that accident? And iodine is a VERY effective sanitizer, so I am not sure what else you expected them to use. As for everything else, did you do anything about any of it or just let them slide? There is something to be said about only being as strong as your weakest link. I am proud to buy a locally made product if for no other reason to support my community. I can only imagine what yogurt made in China would taste like or contain for that matter.

This is industry-wide, people. You eat all kinds of things every day that you have no idea about. Eating bugs is actually good for you--a good source of protein. It's why we have immune systems!

Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear. Yoplait and Reed City Milk and Cheese have provided jobs for many many people over the years. Many families, in and around the Reed City area, owe them a great deal. They could have easily have moved out and taken their jobs with them. Maybe people should not look a gift horse in the mouth. I worked at Yoplait for several years. I did not see or hear horror stories. I think the average consumer would be amazed at what goes on at every food processing plant and public eatery in the country. Sounds to me like "not mad just the truth" has a serious grudge. I for one am very happy to buy locally processed products and thank God that this plant has not moved to another area or State, like so many others have recently done.
