Unsolved Cold Case Murders

I'm in my early 50's and I'm trying to remember some unsolved murders in the area. I do remember the Beth Ann Hedrick case. If I remember correctly, she was 14 at the time of the murder. She was found by the railroad tracks(bike-path) south of town.

If I remember correctly, they convicted someone of that murder. My memory is fuzzy, but I'm wanting to say it was a taxi driver in the Harrisburg area.

I believe the taxi driver you're speaking of, is Bud Sullivan. He's currently doing a life term in Menard for the murder of Dale Hicks. Dale was from Harrisburg and had been missing for quiet sometime before his remains were found in Williamson Co. near Crab Orchard refuge.

I heard a story about a 14 year old and was dating an older man, her name was Jamie Yarber. He broke off with her and her being so young she wanted to keep it going, he got mad and tried to choke her and then set her on fire and burned her up. I heard that their was some witnesses to the whole thing.Does anyone really know the REAL story? what really happened? And if they did anything about it.

Yes, Troy Pennell is in prison for Jamies murder. Troy's other girlfriend and her 6 yr. old daughter were there when it happened.

My sisters murder in 1983 was never solved her name was Terry Feazel she was 27 years old her body was found on Sahara mine property in saline co her remains were found by a hunter it is believed to be apox 3 1/2 months after her murder.
The saline co sherrifs dept suspected she was murdered by her ex husband and his trusted friend and next door neighbor but were unable to prove it,her ex husband hung himself in the saline co jail a few months later. I believe there are people out in saline co that know what really happened and I wish they would come forward and tell what they know and give my sister the justice she deserves, though my parents have senced past away along with losing a sister to a recent car wreck my sister still has 4 sisters including myself living who need closer to my sisters horrible death.

Yes, I was about the same age as Terry. I worked at the cap factory for a long time. This guy was there for a short while, we got to talking about Terry and he said he wondered how she was doing. I told him she had been murdered. He couldn't believe it, he came to work the next day and told me he asked some friends about her and was told she died of natural causes. This was about 10 yrs ago. I know better than that, my father was a police officer and I ran around with Terry in the 70's. Terry was a very nice person and always seem to end up with bad men. I can't remember what Terry's younger sister's name is, she was right behind me in High School. It was just recently in the Daily Register about Terry's case. The authorities were pretty sure her ex did it but officially it remains unsolved. I was positive about Terry, but I could not convnce this guy she was murdered. I'm truly sorry for what happened.

It was in Thursday August 21, 2008. It was titled Winston Case Still Unsolved. It covered Jade Winston who died last year, Beth Ann Hedrick, Freemon Dale Wallace and Terry Lynn Walters. Terry's was the last one listed. Now there was also an article in The Southern Illinoisian but it didn't mention Terry's case but it did in the Daily Register. Let me know if you have trouble finding it, I saved the article on my computer.

I did find the article, was appauled they listed her as Terry Walters not Terry Feazel she had taken back her maiden name!!!! The friend of her exhusband I mentioned earlier initials are
J.B.C.The Police and investigators also believe he was involved but he had people give a bogus allibi to say he was working in Florida doing constuction work at the aproximate time she was mudered everyone knows he seldom worked he always had women move in with him who had children so he could live off their welfare checks untill he beat them and they would leave him and he'd just find another woman to use and abuse.As I said before I still believe ther are people who know what happened but have been afraid to come forward but now with the internet mabe they will annomously.I do soo hope so.

I'm 99.9% sure I know who JBC is. He's gotten out of more messes with no time, and that wouldn't of been the only time he was involved in something like that. Kind of guy you wanna stay away from. I just can't place Walters. By that time, I was running with a different crowd. You never know what may happen, we are all older now and someone just may come forward or provide information.

I just checked the Dept Of Corrections website, I see where JBC is on parole now. I also see where he went to prison in 2000 for animal torture. Imagine that!!!!

Yes they sent him for torturing a dog tieing it to a car by a chain and dragging it,my family a cousin reported the incident to the authorities, only a small justice, but after he went to prison she bought his house for back taxes, and tore his house down, not all the penalty he deserved but the most we could do w /out ending up in jail our selves. I was 5 1/2 months pregnent w/ my first child when they found Terry if not for knowing I was soon to be a mother, I would have ended up prison myself, before walters had a chance to hang himself that was to good for him.and J.B.C would not be on the streets terroising other women.Like my father so wanted too, but he still had three daughters at home to raise, I saw the hurt from loosing her slowly kill my dad he died at a young age of 62 he never stopped silently mourning her loss, while feeling helpless as a father to seek justice for her murder because he still had 5 other daughters to care for. I can only hope someone out there knows what happen and maybe they too have a daughter or sister and can only imagine the hurt they would feel to lose their daughter or sister in such a horrible way, It has been 25 years and the hurt is just the same as if we lost her yesterday.

I would think JBC would have told someone. He wouldn't be able to keep something like that to himself. If nothing else, using it as a way to threaten and intimidate the female in his life. I saw on his parole info he's still around here. Do you have any idea of how the murder happened? Was Terry still seeing her ex?

I never knew Terry had that many sisters,lol. If I remember right your family had some horses close to where the baseball field is in Gaskins city.

If you don't want to talk about it I certainly understand. And I certainly don't want to pry. I do promise you I will never forget Terry and I will never forget how she died.

No I don't how it happened or why!!!! not that she could have done anything to justify him killing her, you see those are the guestions left unanswered. I was not living in saline co. aT the time of her murder abd did not come ome that often so I really don't know what her relationship was with Walters at the time of her murder, ezcept for what i heard that she told aquaitences that she believed he was going to kill her, she believed it strongly enough that aprox 2 to 3 weeks befor her murder she was packing a gun that the sherrifs dept took from her when someone reported her having it, would you believe sherriff george henly proudy hung it on his wall;ike a trophy!!!! my comment to him was had she had it to protect herself she might still be alive!!!!

This is Saline county and you know how crooked things are here and how the truth is hard to get to come out. Remember Dr John D Caveness and all he got away with? The only reason he got caught was he screwed up and killed his second son in St Louis.

Saline county is rather pathetic when it comes to crime and punishment.
