It seems to be waste, but some people get rich on such deals.

The waste is the manager the lies about being one of the first, I've been riding those buses in Long Beach,Norwalk, and Montebello for over 2 years!

Torrance buses always late and dirty!

It's been going down hill for years, Leroy is blind to Kim Turners actions!

She never amswers or returns phone calls, I've heard from drivers that she's never at work!

The article states this is possible from FEDERAL STIMULUS MONEY - all part of the administrations agenda to collapse the economy. They aren't spending money for things we need, teachers, police, bus drivers. The LAUSD is putting in solar panels and city of Long Beach got $800,000 for bike racks. Start reading between the lines, nothing is as it seems anymore.

Do the buses get a free pass at driver's license and DUI checkpoints?

So unfair. I hope Torrance PD checks the buses for drunk people and then arrests them for being drunk in public

Not bad for a city that cried to get federal funding because they are poverty stricken.
Amazing. How about "thanks Torrance, for going all out to bring as much money into our community as possible, especially in these tough economic times!" That would have been better than the whining and complaining you were doing. Be happy that you live in a city where they actually go out and obtain funds from the Federal Government, rather than sit by and let that money go to another city, one that you don't live in.
You're not unlike most of the average Joe citizens, you only want something to complain about and on that topic, you usually are uneducated but still willing to blindly complain. Just say thanks that the city is looking out for your best interest!

My goodness. Finally a "sane" comment from someone who can do more than bitch and complain. I know that's all blogs really are, and most people are incapable of seeing the positive in anything. They persist in spewing nothing but bile. Like the old Latin saying, "Nec audiendi que solent dicere, Vox populi, vox Dei, quum tumultiositas vulgi semper proxima sit." Loosely translated--"those people should not be listening to those who keep saying the voice of the people is the voice of God, since the riotousness of the crowd is always very close to madness." Very close indeed.

I think its cool that the got the funding for the buses, I just don't understand why they have to lie about being one of the first to get them???? These have been around SOCAl for atleast 2 years at other cities! Torrance is not the first but closer to the last to update their fleet!

Why LIE Kim Turner & Frank Scotto? Guess thats the Torrance way!

Oh yes, I am so happy that my city was aggressive in jumping into my pocket to steal more money from me and my children and grandchildren...just can't WAIT to pay that back and deal with the effects that this massive debt will have on our future.(NOT!!!)

Hello, when the Rastellos were paid off with $6 million, in 1989, no one dared to complain. It was agreed that it was a good move to keep them silent. LeRoy even recommended to pay the fines our esteemed officials had to pay. Sgt. Rollo Green was only fired.

And then there were also all these lawyer fees.

Hello, we're in love with zeroes.
It's so good for our bankers.

Just look at all that bail-out money.
And $650,000 for a city bus.

What a lovely commission.
No wonder our leaders are so happy.
