Hummingbird Hawk Moth

have the same moth in garrison mn area. Odly my entire primrose bush was cleaned by a very unusual caterpiller. i searched last year and thought that it was this but wasn't sure. thought they only lived in europe. This spring I wanted to stop that caterpiller and found that I have many of their favorite food in my yard, sedum, lilac, honey suckle trees and plants, phlox, just to name a few.
Now that I know what that crazy looking huge rhino horned caterpiller is i will let it eat my flowers. hopefully i can get a picture this time.

Freaked me out! Just spotted one on my phlox in Minneapolis October 1, 2013!! Thought it was a hummingbird! Really Neat.
