Um, you don't follow. The thread is about Central Valley and if one would pay tuition to go there. Then it evolved to Notre Dame somehow. I responded that we are fine in Herkimer and gave reasons why. Lazy losers are the people who complain about there being no classes for their kid, yet they are the ones letting their kid choose the easy kindergarten style classes for an easy grade requiring no work, or stay with waste of time study halls. It doesn't have to be that way. This has nothing to do with ND parents, so stop being defensive (or self-conscious?). There is nothing wrong with ND and if you are on top of your kids' decisions there is really nothing wrong with Herkimer either. And the thing about 'the easy way out' was directed toward those who wanted to merge instead of fixing what's ours and making the best of it. Sorry that this subject is too complicated for some people to understand. This is why I hate commenting here, because there are too many people jumping all over you without knowing what's going on. And then it takes forever to explain it again. And again. And again.
You want people to mind their own business and stop bashing others' decisions yet you're on here basically trashing music programs like choir. Let me tell you firsthand that my kids did not take it for an "easy grade" nor was it a "kindergarten" class. Music ties particularly math and social studies together and much of what the kids were learning in other classes made a lot more sense to them. More importantly it helped them get into a better college. They DID look at this with both kids to see how well rounded they were. Ideally they wanted to see things like regular participation in the arts, sports, clubs- in particular taking a leadership role in a club, community service or scouting. It helps the college predict which kids can handle the high demands of their school and which ones they should weed out. Colleges are getting more and more selective so my advice is to be as diverse as you can in course selection. Good luck. Glad we're done.

Earlier thread with stats on area schools and their rankings removed. Unbelievable. To the genius who removed it, it's all still available on line. Check it out. The people who bash others for their choices should do their homework.
