I heard there was another pizzeria opening up in Herkimer soon. Any clues as to who or where? Don't we have enough restaurants?? That is why nothing survives in this area!

We will not be getting any assistance, though it would be helpful. Everything that has been done in the place is from our own money, as we have been told there is no assistance available. As far as taking two years to open, no, we should be open by December 1st, no later. We are bringing something different in terms of pizza, it is not the same s what is currently offered in the valley, as all the pizza here tastes the same, ours is different, true NY style and we will make as the customer would like. We are trying to bring good, reasonable food to the area, without having to take advantage of loans, this is all started out of pocket, with every last penny that we have. We would greatly appreciate your support!

Congrats on the new place. Hopefully you will make the outside look a little more appealing as well. Those curtains are lopsided and do not go well. And as of right now there are paper signs everywhere. The exterior looks very low budget. If you wAnt to attract customers, the outside needs to be as appealing as the inside. good Luck, though. I hope Main St keeps filling up with businesses.

This place hasn't even opened yet and the topix trolls have started already. Wish the new owners the best of luck.

The folks living in the N. Main St. apartments will need someplace to hang and be able to eat without walking all over town, especially if they have children or a disability. As said previously, a filled store front is a good thing.

I ordered there today and have to say my pizza was great!! I had the white pizza with pineapple, ham, and black olives it was amazing. They lots off topings to choose from and thet will make it thin, thick, or regular. I highly recommend The Pizza Shop! Oh and the staff and owners are good down to earth people too.

I'm sorry but presentation is everything. As soon as I saw the pitiful front window display with their dripping lettering I was turned off. I would have loved to see a nice window display and proper signage. Without that you will not get many people to walk through the door. I guess I may try ordering out from there because I do believe in supporting small businesses. I just wish more thought and heart went into their presentation. Good luck!

maybe if Burrito Jonz didn't hog up $30,000 in public funding only to default on payments and never open for business even after 1 1/2 years...

... some loan or grant funding might have been available for this poor pizza place to have some attractive signage. But as one of the owners said above,

"Everything that has been done in the place is from our own money, as we have been told there is no assistance available."

NO ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE -- Burrito Jonz HOGGED all the funds and made local officials wary of investing in restaurants after the ridiculous debacle that's been going on since April 2012 regarding Burrito Jonz opening on Main St.

There's a real injustice here... these Pizza Shop guys are HERKIMER COUNTY natives who pay taxes here and they cant get a dime to start up their business ...

... whereas the IDA and Village Board showered $30K on a fly-by-night shyster from ONEIDA COUNTY who already ran his Utica burrito shack out of business by being a complete boob and a liar.

The Pizza Shop guys "tax payers" or welfare / disability hogs? I wasn't able to tell when I went in there.

I was there today and the windows were clean, proper lettering was in place. Do you ever think that it takes time to have lettering made and shipped? They have some great food and some really great specials. As one of the owners stated above there was no funding available, everything was done out of pocket. They have been open for about a week now, give them a chance!

Yes they were closed at 530 on Tuesday because they are not open Tuesday according to their later business hours and their answering machines states the same. People should be supporting their local business hours instead of bashing them. Get a life.

Thank you to those who have stopped in and gave us a try! It did take some time for the window lettering to come and in the meanwhile we used what we could to get info out there. We have achieved a great deal in a little time, with a very little capital, we are planning on making the place look as welcome and nice as possible, but we had to open with what we have. Everything comes in time and we hope to be here a very long time.
We are running a few specials for those of you who would like to stop by and give us a try:
Slice and a can of soda $2.00
Slice and a bottle $2.50
2 Slices and bottle $4.25
2 Slices and can $3.75
Large Cheese and 2 Liter $13.50
Large Pizza & 20 Wings $20.00
Large Pizza 2 Toppings, Breadsticks, 30 Wings,& 2 Liter $28.00.
Thanks!
