yes the shooter is finally dead. time for the system to quit playing nice with violent criminals like they always seem to do around here. maybe national shame will finally get them to take crime seriously.

That college started going downhill 3 years ago they just need real police around here. But ny does not have the money for real police we are to busy spending are money on welfare who I think if u can't afford food and gotta live off that then why stay alive your dragging are towns down. And if u have kids on it they should be taken away cause you are a unfit parent to raise a kid

Excellent job NYSP,FBI and Marshall's! Just goes to show you we don't need the Herkimer Police department. Let the State Police take over our village! They were running the show anyway! They are just so much more professional and well trained!
Great job

The feds and the NYSP have an unlimited supply of money, manpower and equipment plus the Public relations to take over and to portray themselves in the best possible light. Spare no expense! Damn the taxpayers. How much did it cost to have the head of the state police AND the governor transported and hang around with their entourages and armed security and helicoptors, etc? And the head of the state police didn't know the name of the K9 that was killed. WKTV and CNY news gave out more information than he did. If things went to shit, he would have certainly delegated the "bad news" to a lesser personage (probably the local police to keep the blood off their hands). Remember, as sheet always flows downward. I note that the Superintendent didn't even mention the local BCI guys who were actively involved in the investigation. Thanks to the local un-named officers who were essential in this case.

The best part of the show was when the governor was forced to wait around for several hours for face time in the media due to that pesky Pope news. How dare that the new Pope usurp the Little Pope of the vampire state by being appointed Wednesday. Rock beats scissors. Paper covers rock. Pope beats Andy.

And then, the perp had the audacity to use a shotgun instead of a Remington semi-automatic rifle. By God if that murdering scumbag had used a Remington product, than the little pope would have been vindicated in issuing his "papal" Unsafe NY law. Damn it. Instead, the little pope had to merely look contrite and act like a regular official and NOT like a presidential candidate using the deaths of four good citizens to justify his all-powerful edict.

Thank you to the local officers (Herkimer, Ilion, Mohawk, Frakfort, Little Falls etc) the DA and the local State Police. They withstood the cold and the trauma and the gunfire. They ALL live in our community and send their kids to OUR local schools and care about OUR local citizens. Thank you to the un-named FBI Handler who lost his un-named partner and thank you especially to the poor K-9 who drew the scumbag's fire and allowed the officers to end the scumbag's miserable existence.

And I hope the scumbag's name is never mentioned again and his body is burned and his ashes thrown into a filthy cat litter box and dumped into a crappy landfill so that his life will have no meaning or relevence and so that he does not become an icon to some other sick worthless fluck in the future. God bless and help us all. And please remember the innocent victims killed and those wounded, their families, neighbors and friends. If any of them had been legally armed (see Second Ammendment), maybe justice would have been quicker and more effective.

the press conference delay had nothing to do with the news regarding the new Pope.

How about Second Amendment? Yeah, you're so not smarter than a 5th grader. Your life is no more relevant than Kurt Myers

C'mon, stop the rumors. The fact is that five people died, two came close, and a dog trained to protect and served was fatally shot, and we don't know what started all that.

I'm sorry for Kurt Myers. I really am. Nobody seems to have known him well enough to have seen this coming. It's pretty sad to be that alone, living in a village where everybody knows just about everybody. Even loners have a family, or SOMEbody. Nobody knew him?

It was a hell of a thing to do. I wish we could get a handle on what makes these guys snap and destroy their neighbors and ultimately themselves. Can't help thinking that maybe this could have been prevented.

Those deaths were a terrible, senseless loss. I honestly can't bring myself to hate Kurt Myers for what he did. I just wish we had some real answers.

Will we ever know all the facts of this situation? I will say this being the family member of a homicide victim. Closure is just an open word. It is a long and convoluted future from that day forward. And we as survivors deal with this one day at a time. The questions are hard to answer. And the peace and comfort we seek isn't always easy.

Agreed. Closure is a bit of a lie people tell themselves so they can get on with their lives. It's really scar tissue. In this case, the community is scarred as well as the families and friends of these men who were just going about their everyday lives when everything just ended for them.

We need to learn more about what goes on in the human mind. They were all victims, including Myers.
