The reviews weren't exactly stellar and who the hell opens a second hand shop in the back of their restaurant? Mohawk has that nice purple house right down the street that serves breakfast. What more could they need?

They've never stayed current on their road sign so I don't know if that's true, or not? But it wouldn't surprise me if it was true ?

The food, and service leaves a lot to be desired, and the help seriously lacks any kind of personality so if it DOES close....R.I.P Mohawk Station !

Does anyone remember when it as the "Coalyard"? Now that was a busy, and fun place to have a few beers and meet your friends !

Looks like you may be getting your wish to run another business out of town. You should be proud.

If your comments were addressed to me, I'm not wishing to run any business out of town. I was there, tried it, didn't like it, and won't go back, and there were others on here who feel the same way. Why would anyone go back to a place of business where they recieved substandard service, and in this case, substandard service and food?

Well said it right. If the right person was in there, it may do well.

Have you (Xst) been there for a meal? If so, what did you think ?

Sorry, patron, I'm not Rocky, and I've been to his over-priced place too. The food isn't worth what he's asking for it either.

No, I have not eaten there so I can't comment on the place. I just know that I am constantly reading in Herkimer Topix about this place that folks don't like and this place that folks don't like and that place that folks don't like. Sometimes it takes a little time to get the bugs out of a new place, and it would be nice if everyone wasn't so quick to jump down a small business owner's throat. It takes a lot of money and even more time to make a successful business. It would be nice to see some support around here and some kind words.

You make some good, valid points ! I'm told they have an experienced chef and wait staff, so I expected much better service, and food. Unfortunately, neither was worthy of the price paid for the four meals we had. I don't like to see any business go under, but I cannot afford to dine out that often anymore and when I do, I want value for the money. Now before some joker chimes in and tells me to eat at McDonalds, I'm talking real, chef-prepared meals, not deep-fried, fast food garbage, so please, don't even go there.

I knew it was gonna happen. You cannot have an intelligent conversation with anyone on this site without an idiot putting in his two cents.

There are too many fools that write on Topix. They speak out the side of their necks without any first-hand knowledge of the facts or what really is going on. They've ruined many businesses and many people and it's just terrible. The Herkimer Topix is really a laughingstock. I agree with you about the cost of going out for a meal and then not enjoying the meal. But what I am saying is that our Valley doesn't have many choices any more. And look at all the people who support the chain restaurants. They are certainly not better than our local establishments. These folks have hurt business after business while they stuff their faces at the likes of Ponderosa. They are the ones who sit at Dunkin Donuts and slam every business or malign the characters of people who show up for work every single day. They think that any plug is someone else trying to stoke their own business - like the comment "OK Rocky" above. For your information, I don't even know Rocky. Wouldn't recognize him if I saw him.

listen...bottom line is that if the food is not that great and is expensive, then why return back a second time? I too have been there when cars were packed in the lot and one day I was able to get in and try it. I was not impressed myself and wil not return either until I know for a fact that there is a new chef. Food was blah.

Just to give them an honest shake, my fiance, and I went there again this past weekend. WE both had different meals, and both agreed that the food and service was again, just so-so !

We don't eat at fast food restaurants, they're terrible both on your physical health, and they're NOT that inexpensive any longer either! We frequent places such as, PK's Pub, The Buffalo Head, Giorgio's, Delmonico's, etc.

I don't like to see ANY legitimate business close, so I will wish the Mohawk Station success with the hopes of them remaining open for a long time to come ! We may even give them another shot in a month, or two just to see if they've improved. I sincerely hope they do .
