as a student and the fact that my best friend was in the car, at first they didn't know what was going on because the drive for 80 minutes (I recently had the class this year) my friend told me that when another kid was driving it was their right of way at the intersection and that Myers whipped right around them in the car with police following by, the teacher finished up the driving minutes later and went back to the school, and when i left there was about 50 people in the lobby there's not point in checking I.D. it would have been a waste of time. There was no real danger Kurt Myers obviously pointed out specific people or else he would not have left so many witnesses.
Krutz - Good teacher
Briggs - good principle
take it from someone who doesn't even like Herkimer and hasn't lived here there entire life. Quit your bitching everyone
By the time the Driver's Ed car was going through Mohawk, the shootings in Herkimer had already taken place. So your notion that Myers "whipped right around them in the car with police following by" is 100% BS. The student who was driving the car, as they were going through this scene in Mohawk, was startled by ambulance and police racing past them, that she pulled over and another student took over the driving, NOT the teacher. More lies.

BTW, Briggs is not a "principle". He is an assistant PRINCIPAL!

During the lockdown, not much information was known about the shooter or his intentions or plan. Therefore it was NOT a waste of time to check ID's. Nobody knew if he had other people involved, or lots of other variables, which is why a lockdown was ordered. "Kurt Myers obviously pointed out specific people or else he would not have left so many witnesses." none of which was known at the time this was all unfolding, so to say there was no danger to others is "Monday morning quarterbacking".

Myers was NOT chased by any L.E. out of Mohawk across the bridge. The MPD were at his apt./house responding to the fire. After he finished shooting at Gaffeys he was not immediately pursued either, HPD didnt know who to look for or what vehicle initially. He drove down N.Prospect, circled around the library parking lot, then drove thru the walkway and trees in front the library entrance and onto Main St over the sidewalk.

Exactly. Matter of fact, he was never pursued by law enforcement at all. He was already in the Glory Days building by the time they had any idea what or who they were looking for. They didn't know where to look until they found his vehicle.

ow did he get into Glory Days? did he bust or shot open the front door? maybe the rear entrance. Did he somehow have a key to the place? maybe he was doing renovations there. Hope he didnt think there was still some booze and beer left in there.

what have witnesses said about the Mohawk barbershop incident? did he walk in with teh shotgun in his hands? or was it concealed under a coat (was it sawed off).

Morons here beating on good decent people trying to make a difference in a bad situation. You seem to have all the answers. Why don't you try protecting 500 kids in a emergency? Monday morning quartering backing is always the best. The shooter was isolated and contained before 11am so stfu already.

Actually, most of the day, right up until they went in and killed him, they had no idea if he was still inside. That is why the village was also in a state of lockdown.

Written policies are in place by the School District to do just that, protect those hundreds of kids. Shame on those who went against those policies simply because it was an inconvenience. Monday morning quaterbacking would imply this was looking back and criticizing. That's actually not the case. The OP posted on something that happened that very day that went against school policy.

"OnceAgain" is the one actually "Monday Morning quarterbacking" because you're using information that was found out after it was all over to justify and minimize the actions the school did or did not take during this event. After Myers stopped shooting he hid in the building and never made any contact with the police force outside. Attempts to locate him failed and they were not completely sure if he was in the building or found a way out. And with that information, that is also the reason why Herkimer cancelled school on the following day, Thursday, because they still were not sure up until they went in, that he was still in there. The lockdown was a plan to secure the school from such an unpredictable event such as that. Going against that plan was selfish.

So when police approached the the front of Glory Days around 1pm , and Myers shot at them thru the windows, they had no clue he was inside huh? Must've been a huge coincidence. They had that whole block/bldg surrounded, cordoned off and under surveillance.

Yeah, he had a zip line set up from the roof to the next block, and they missed him.

Yeah, he had a zip line set up from the roof to the next block, and they missed him.
After he stopped shooting, he went into hiding somewhere in the building.

What you do not realize is that the basement of all the buildings on that block with Glory Days are all connected and there are sewers leading away from the building. They also knew this but had no way of knowing if he got out of the building or not. Without knowing where he was in the building, they had no idea IF he was still in the building. Since he never once responded when they tried to communicate with him, again, they had no way of knowing if he was still in there.

Exactly, they could not be 100% certain he was still inside.

True, back in the day, I used to sneak into Glory Days via the secret basement passage after it was closed for the night and drink and eat all I wanted. Sometimes I'd play the jukebox and darts too or get porn on the TV.
