I have a nephew who started at Herkimer Boces. He was excited to be in the Outdoor Power class. He told me the teacher is barley out of highschool himself and has little to no experience in the industry he's trying to teach. I heared the principal of the school is his neighbor which is how he got the job. I feel bad for the kids who want to benefit from the program since they will suffer. There must be some kind of criteria an instuctor must meet even though it is vocational training. Too bad since the program is not offered anywhere else in the area.

Maybe you should learn the full story. The teacher was placed on administrative leave. and they had a former Student who is very successful in his new Business he started up take over until they find a replacement. Would you rather they have someone who can actually teach them something come in? Or a sub who doesn't know jack crap about the trade and cheat the students out of trade knowledge.

I was JUST wondering about Herkimer BOCES and VOILA! a topix discussion appears. amazing. Anyway, does anyone remember when BOCES had adult night classes??? They offered small engine repair, wiring, welding, self defense, etc. What happened to those??

Successful business or not, still does not explain the minimum of 10yrs. "Field" experience required by NYS Dept. Requirements per the website. As far as I am concerned I feel the quality of the material will suffer. Mabie the kid is good at certain things. But from what I am told there is more video watching than anything. Just because someone is mechanical doesn't make up for the lack of experience. Unfortunate situation to say the least. Glad his buisness is successful. But I wouldn't think Top Knotch is that good. Otherwise why wouldn't he be there full time instead of teaching.

So instead of calling boces and asking administration you bring your concerns up here. Douche. Hey I need some marital advice. Instead of going to marriage counselor is there any one here with good advice? Haha.

Still. Who would you rather have? Someone that has expereince in the field trying their best? Or a subistute that does nothing. I went to BOCES and if we had a subsitue we did jack shit for the day.

Marriage takes a lot of work from both spouses. After the Honeymoon things will start to go down hill. Once kids come into the picture you'll have no time for yourselves...for like 18 or more years. Forget about sex. Forget about saving money. Forget about hanging out with your buddies. Your life is over.

I wouldn't bother with administration its a joke. Fox, Hedges, Piccolla never even set foot in the classrooms, they care more about academic training vs. Vocational training. I give OPE, Criminal Justice a time table of 3yrs. And they'll phase out. It seems to a lot of people there that the intrest is in the numbers which is Cosmotology, nursing, and Culinary. They more than likely couldn't find an instructor that specialized in Outdoor Power exclusive, I heard they interviewed one other fella who from what I Hear was trained in OPE. But it must not have worked out. Either way its unfortunate. But I guess there may be some light at the end of the tunnel eventually.

The teacher of the outdoor power class is actually an amazing person and anyone that is lucky enough to have there children be taught by him should be great full. Yes he is young but what young men do you know that can start a SUCCESSFUL business, start two dealerships and teach.. All literally at the same time. None! So before starting petty drama over some grudge you hold for some immature reason you should probably learn the facts! He was hired as a sub because the teacher that was in there was not doing his job correctly! The "sub" did so well and all the students came out of the program successful that they asked him to come back! So instead of leaving the old teacher there, that was doing his job incorrectly and being unprofessional, they brought someone else in. Rather then send someone off the street or someone who has literally no experience, they made the best choice they could make by getting this guy! Who literally goes out of his way for every student, who brings in things that the students are interested in,and who is actually giving the students hands on experience and teaching them at the same time. Anyone would be lucky to have this young hard working successful guy teach there children, he truly is a role model!

Piccolla left and Hedges should be shown the door. She is such a miserable person and her overpaid position is not necessary. If only people knew what waste occurs on that campus, it would stop and the taxpayers would be saved a fortune.
