We shall see is all I have to say at this point. That old Sprint location at the corner of Park & North Main Street has been vacant for a year or more now, with no noticeable activity or progress on the inside of it. I'll believe they're going to open there when I see some signs confirming it in the windows, facing out towards the street from the inside of that space. Otherwise this thread is all smoke, mirrors, gossip and local yokel bullshit!
Their food sucks anyway. No worries. If it does open it will fail just as most businesses do in Herkimer. Too bad really.

i think Burrito Jonz will do quite well. it will be the only Tex Mex place in the valley -- a welcome alternative to the generally uninspired pizza subs wings and fast food that prevails around here.

along with the excellent Tokyo Sushi restaurant we will have another nice dining/takeout option with an international flair

we've been to Burrito Jonz in Utica a number of times and the food is quite good and affordable. it's a fun and colorful place too, suitable for sit-down dining and good for takeout.

Burrito Jonz food is not jaw-dropping great, though -- it would behoove the owner to rethink some of his recipes. the food can be a bit bland. it should be more flavorful. punch it up, buddy.

but, you will try it for yourself and see. it's going to be a good place that will draw people from a wide area, not just the Main St losers and college punks.

other than putting a couple of signs in the window i see NO evidence that any work whatsoever is going towards opening a Burrito Jonz on Main St !

what a disappointment. as a would-be patron i am dismayed at Burrito Jonz failure to follow through on its plan and as a taxpayer i am concerned they are a pack of thieves who pocketed $15,000 in IDA cash for -- NOTHING!

Macho (a misnomer if I've ever seen one), why don't you pick up the phone and talk with Herk. Cnty Health Department about the status of their application. Then your next call should be to the owner of Burrito Jonz in Utica and ask what the status of the opening is as of this week. But of course you won't because it's easier to spew on Topix. Topix - the definative source of rumor and BS. You must be a competitor.

well what a load of BS this Burrito Jonz opening turned out to be.

the business received a $15,000 grant or loan back in APRIL from the county IDA and has done virtually nothing towards opening. Six months ago!

in fact according to an article in today's OD what little visible work has been done was done by the building owner, not the Burrito Jonz owner.

And now the Burrito Jonz owner claims he hopes to open in "early October" (hello it is October 3)-- but it "waiting on paperwork" for a loan from the village ... ANOTHER LOAN?

yeah it looks real ready to open

let's see, in the same period of time from April til now...

Tractor Supply Co demolished the Skinner complex and built a new 12,000 sq ft bldg

Belly Up Pub gutted the former Albany St and renovated top to bottom AND procured a liquor license and is now open for business

Burrito Jonz hung a sign in the window

Right. What happened Al? Did Mom's purse spring a leak. I saw loads of work being done when the spotlight was on Burrito Jonz not opening. Then Zip Bubkus all construction stopped on that corner building. What gives Mr. Main Street Herkimer??

You're so very right! Looked through the windows of that place today and what I saw looked NOTHING CLOSE to being $15,000.00 in labor and materials. SOOO, WHAT BECAME OF THE $15,000.00 in IDA money they were given, I wonder. In this day and age where that kind of money could be better used for more promising projects that WILL actually HELP and BENEFIT people, something NEEDS to be said and done about what became of that restaurant's Herkimer location. Time to call WKTV's news room and get Hillary Lane or Jolene Ferris out here to do a story on what became of all of that IDA money!!! Maybe one of them can get some answers from the owner(s) of Burrito Jonz. A couple of Burrito Jonz decals in the windows of an empty store front just won't suffice.

The Burrito Jonz guy is too busy writing fan letters to Mitt Romney to worry about opening...check out his twitter sometime.

Funny how he's against government handouts until he needs them, now he's waiting for another $15,000 loan from the village. Idiot.

hahaha! loving it that after all this time people still find bath salt zombies entertaining and its not just me.
On another note, if you are looking for great authentic hispanic food you may want to try Tu Cocinas on Genesse st in Utica...... right off the circle. They are amazing :)

Is it just now dawning on you that the GOP good old boys just picked your pocket again? Doh!

Giving tax payer money to friends is one of life's simple joys.
