I womder how those pieces of crap feel at night when they know they are paid to screw senior citizens and the poor. I bet that makes them feel real good about their jobs. Crooks selling bad break jobs and tires that wear out after 10,000 miles.

I wonder what it feels like to be a crook??

Please anyone reading posts here, warn your friends, family, or anyone you know that Cole Muffler/Mavis Tire is a rip off joint and you should not go there. The people that work there are paid to get every penny they can from you. They are not there to help you they are they to take every penny they can suck off you.
Stay away from this rip off joint.

Yes, indeed I have heard many stories. Plus when we took our car there they did the same to us. Telling us more work needed done etc. WRONG. My brother in law is a mechanic and was visiting and he told us what was wrong. They ARE ripoffs and it is like a game to them to extract every penny they can from you. And if you are older - LOOK OUT!

I went there about two years ago, and they took off inspection sticker and told me I needed new tie rods in front. Gave me an estimate of over $300, I told them I was taking the car and they got pissed. Went to a legitimate inspection gargage and had the same car inspected and passed twice with no mention of the tie rods. Cole Muffler is a bunch of CROOKS and the Herkimer Police should be arresting them for stealing from people.

What they all aren't admitting to is how they were too cheap to maintain their own cars. Then they want to blame a repair shop for showing them what they have neglected on their cars. These cheap SOB's shouldn't be allowed to own cars when this is how they abuse them and falsely blame Cole Muffler for it.

anytime a shop insists that you "need" new rotors you're in trouble. the vast majority of rotors can be reused with no problems whatsoever.

Skinner is notorious for this rotor scam too. they wanted $375 for a front brake job including new rotors. we took it to Monro and had the work done for $99 using a coupon from the Monro website. Rotors simply turned, no problems at all.

sure in an ideal world it's nice to get new rotors but in most cases the old ones will serve just fine.

Hah, then you know nothing about brakes. Rotors have a service limit stamped into them. When their thickness gets below the service limit, you NEED to replace them.

I have never been in one of the forums before and probably wont again and now I know why-most people who post on here are weirdo's so this will be my final comments:

If you dont want to spend money to make your vehical safe and fixed properly then go to Auto Zone and buy cheap inferior parts and then give your mechanic 20 bucks and a 12 pack of beer to do the repairs and stop your moaning.

All you negative posters are the same people that go to Walmart shopping and when you leave won't throw a couple of dollars into the Salavation Army red kettle because you are to cheap.

As for me I will be going there this week for snow tires on my daughters car as they have the best price around hand down.

So long to all you cheap posters!!!!!!

cheap inferior parts from Autozone? Where do you think places like Cole get their parts from? They get them from the local parts stores. Besides, the parts sold at places like Autozone are made by the major manufacturers of automobile parts anyway. Brakes for example are made by Raybestos, Bendix, etc. There is no AUTOZONE factory making pads and rotors. They are rebranded from the major brands.

Everybody has a story about someplace. Cole, Munro, Tallman, Skinner. When it comes to auto repairs we have all gotten screwed at one time or another. As repaie shops go, one person swears by 'em, another swears at 'em.BTW throw Steet Ponte into the mix of sometimes dubious character.

Best thing to do on big repairs-TRUST NO ONE!!!. Get quotes from at least 3 places and make 'em stick to it when you get the job done.

mavis may be ok if you just need tires. not much to screw up with tires. as for any mechanical repairs stay away. you will pay too much and most likely get poor work. they will not hesitate to lie to your face. it did happen to me once and it will not happen again.

Quit bitchin about the businesses that pay taxes in this county and do the work yourself or better yet do what "Happy with them" said have your buddy mechanic do your repairs for 20 bucks and a 12 pack because that is apparently all you want to spend. I Been there many times and NO issues. I wonder why? To each person that think they got taken you will find that there are many many more that have had a good experience. If your that unhappy then dont go back! Thats what normal people do. Honestly it would be a pleasure to look at this forum and read somthing with meaning and not listen B.S. that bash people and business! But then again with the changing demographics in our communities should we expect anything different?

Go to Hillslide outside of Little Falls. Good work for a reasonable price. It is on Rute 5 just west of the city limits.
