And it is worth it. Your kids won't talk like some of the folks on this site. They will learn compassion, forgiveness and humility..not to mention the great book education...win win situation.

keep in mind that while the school may offer a good foundation as you put it, it does not offer any type of music program and has a limited arts program. i do agree that a smaller school could be good for some students - but i strongly believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn an instrument or involve themselves in the arts in some way. it has been proven that doing so improves math and science scores, which everyone needs to get anywhere these days. so you will be paying for tuition, private lessons if your kid wants to learn music, and there are constant fundraisers that they are always having which parents have to shell out more money for.

come on is cunningham really gay? please don't say yes yea I know your going to tell me I believe in the tooth fairy too huh? But then again what does one expect from Bishop Hubbard another poor excuse for a shepard of the church.

Blew my mind to have someone say that there are signs all over the place saying not to park in his parking space not even for a second. What gives with that. This fat f..k should have his car taken away it would do him good health wise

hey he is the priest - Sister Rosalie is the principal of the school and very much in charge and she is a wonderful lady - don't let the fact the Cunningham is associated with St. Francis de Sales Church stop you from providing your children with a very good education

They do have a music program with a wonderful teacher. As for fundraisers I found my children did more at the high school and I hear the elementary is just as bad. Math and science scores- just check or even ask the teachers at the high school how St. Francis children do in those areas. The elementary is a fine school but you do not need to put down St. Francis. My children have been at the top of there class(because of the hard work and dedication from the teachers and the value of education they taught my children) So sad people take time out of their day to put down others. Hard working teachers and student with nothing to be ashamed of. Can you say the same!!!!

St. Francis is worth the money. It's a lot but some scholarship money is available to lower income families. Private school is the way to go if you can afford it. The public schools are too focused on matters other than learning - their resources are eaten up by behavior problems - NYS dept of Ed has them focusing on "socialization" issues. Education is what you'll get at St. Francis. Really don't want to comment on Fr. Cunningham. He doesn't teach at the school. The nuns run the show at the school.

Just to clarify things, only 2 nuns teaching there now. Sr. Bart for kindergarten, and Sr. Jackie for upper grades English. Sr. Rosalie is steering the ship. Other teachers are very dedicated as they get paid squat compared to public school.

If you want to send your kids to a private school then you'll pay in many ways other than just tuition. This is small potatoes compared to other non religious private school tuition. Not having arts and music is just the trade off and compromise a family makes.

Even with public schools, I can't tell you the number of times I am hit up each school year to buy over priced, useless items being sold by kids. Who purchases most of this stuff?? Parents and grandparents.

St. Francis is a wonderful school. In many ways, it is like the old neighborhood school where everyone knew each other. It's family like atmosphere is a refreshing change from the frantic activities that happen at public schools.
As for the cost, people have money for all the "things" their children want. Isn't a good, solid education priceless ?

I went there for school, and honestly it was probably the best thing for me... once I got into high school everything went downhill from there :/ Even though they teach about God and whatnot, it's a good way of learning morals, respect, and everything that kids are lacking nowadays!

Wow, you are one sick puppy. Fr. Cunnignham is tough and even unreasonable sometimes. It's called being human. But I think you have no idea what thoughtfulness, charity and compassion are. They are probably virtues that you know nothing about. In your demented mind, you can think of all priests as molesters. Well, I have news for you, they are not anymore than all teachers molest their students or all fathers abuse their daughters. There are bad apples in all human institutions, Father Cunningham is not one of them. I have found him to be very concerned and involved. Sure he can be a control freak, but that's a flaw that can be corrected. I fear your lunacy is incurable! Oh by the way, St. FRancis is a great school. They have families that have attended there for generations and brand new families too. Check out the graduates in the high school and see how many of the top scholars came through there. The teachers in the High School know how prepared the kids are that come from St. Francis. That school stays open because of the commitment of dedicated parents, Sr. Rosalie and Fr. Cunningham. For that all in our community should be thankful.

st francis is a billion times better than public school. test scores are higher, the kids become more respectable. kids from the public schools grow up to be the white trash that thrives in south side herkimer.
can't say i am being ignorant about south side public school kids, i gave them a chance and tried being friends. they can't have intellegent convos, everything they think and do it fuck this, fuck that, so high this drugs and alcohol that.
go to herkimer walmart, all those trashy families with the 6 dirty kids that swear and look covered in bed bugs and the herpes around the mouth, are the kids your kids will be sitting next to and learning from in public school.
when my son gets older, if i can't afford st francis im homeschooling anything to avoid public school. bad enough we pay taxes for that dump.

The girls that come out of catholic schools are the biggest tramps. Everybody knows that. The place ends at 6th grade. Im pretty sure that isnt enough time to prevent anyone from turning into the trash that you see at Wal Mart. Well, ends at 6th grade if Cunningham doesnt eat you first. Look at the people that pull their kids out of there and put them into public schools. The place has degraded into a handful of kids wearing funny clothes and isolated in a small brick building until puberty. Yeah, thats effective.
