From what I hear Herkimer has it's own version of Ilion's ex-mayor. Let's hope he doesn't f-up Herkimer like she did Ilion. Crude, vulgar, not too bright.

I'm so glad to be rid of Howdy Doody! Why cant people wait and see what kind of Mayor Mr. Brindisi will be before you criticize? How sad your existence must be that you feel it necessary to tear a man down a week into his new job. Anytime I've begun a new job there has been a 90 day probationary period. You know, a period of learning your new position. Some people in this Village have real careers not just McDonalds style jobs, so we understand that you don't learn a new position in a week!!! Also, I for one, as a taxpayer, do not want to foot the bill for tearing down the old Glory Days building! That will be one large expense and it should be the expense of the OWNER, not mine! I have to laugh at the ignorance here. I don't care who the new mayor is sleeping with (or not sleeping with). Just like I didn't care who Clinton was sleeping with! What people do in their own homes is their business whether they are in public office or not. Just my opinion and I'm sure I will get berated for it but that's ok I have broad shoulders! Have a great day. I'm off to work, hopefully so are all of you!

He's been trustee for over a year now and was a long-time village employee. Everyone knows what he's like to deal with and how he operates. So no probationary period needed.

Boy will the new boys get a dose of reality. We will have to suck up the problem with glory Days. The owner walked away and isn't payng the taxes. So we tear it down add it to the taxes and they won't pay that either. Mr Brindis isn't too bright and he doesn't look very professional. I pray they can improve things but I think they are in over their heads. But hes the mayor or so the people say. Let's see where this leads us. He made lots of promises now he has to deliver. He says no to the county for the jail at PC site. We he keep his promises. We hope so.

They're going to get a huge dose of reality. If you want to see what these guys are like, listen to their interview on WUTQ: http://wutqfm.com/interviews/102915 I was just shaking my head when I listened to this. And yeah, Tony said he thought his constituents don't want a jail in the village. That attitude won't be tolerated for long by the County overlords.

Tony knows we don't want the jail and I believe he will stand firm against the county. They want to develop shopping places and they can do that on the site where the county is pushing the jail. The sheriff doesn't want to build in Herkimer either so it is a no brainer. Tony will listen to us and he knows that we don't want the jail on 28. We have him promising that and I think he will keep his promise. We have to give him some time to get things moving and hire the people who can run the village every day like a business.

He promised and he is a man of honor.

Umm, I hate to burst your bubble but story is that the new guys meet with Bono about the jail BEFORE they even took office!

For the life of me I just cannot understand what the problem with having the jail here is? Can someone with intelligence explain this to me? I've lived in several places with County and State jail/prisons and see their towns, villages flourish. From the ground work up to finished operating facility the jobs and new people brought to the are bring MONEY from the income they earn. More money brings brought to the are entices new businesses to come. New business brings more money???

Apologies I meant to the area...And the more money that is brought into the area and spent here, entices new businesses to build here and call Herkimer their home. With more new jobs. Is my logic off in this area?

Honor my ass. He is an obese backstabbing slob who would look better in a window spinning pizza dough than in the mayor's seat. People only voted for him because he wasn't Mark Ainsworth. The morons thought that anything has to be better. Now they have heard him speak and actually seen him and are busy scratching their heads and saying "I voted for that?" Well done idiots. As if this village isn't embarrassing enough without a leader who looks like a old fat version of Luigi from Mario Bros.

You lived in several places with jails and prisons..can you explain why such an intelligent person so gravitates to such places or were you or your family a resident in these jails or prisons. Oh yea, the new jail will bring good paying jobs..are you for real. They claim only one or two more staff will be required cuz the new place will be so efficient. and lets face it, Farber hires all his cronies and former cops to double dip.Now you got the new guys to kiss Bono's a**. Malta and Brindisi worked for him. Malta still does. Don't you see his mug when you go into DMV. Put the dam thing in the country and not in the village. or better yet let another town carry the burden of all the trash that comes with having the jail. Brindisi and his crew better keep his promise to us or they'll be one term jokers.

. The problems arise when all the welfare baby mommas with brats in tow decide to stay in Herkimer so they can visit their loser boyfriends in jail! And you think Main Street looks disgusting now???!

That's right. If you are on welfare you still get 'paid' like clockwork no matter where you live. So they have no problem moving to Herkimer to be able to visit their jailbird boyfriend, signing whatever lease the slumlord puts in front of them, realize how much of their welfare check they have left over because the rent is so much less, realize how much nicer and safer they can live here, without being overcrowded and without having to deal with a million people who are constantly trying to rip each other off. Then when the boyfriend gets out of jail, she has already tasted that difference and they decide to stay. That is the problem with the jail. Everybody wants the jobs. Some of us look past that and realize the cost to the community as stated above.

Build it in Schuyler. County jobs would still be created and the lowlife girlfriends with kids in tow can move to Utica or Frankfort. Now that's a good idea. But that's too close to Bono's constituents. So that won't happen.
