if a worker can not produce a quality product the company goes out of business and shuts down, teachers have been on a failing steady slope since 1970 with demands for increases in schools, supplies and salaries.the effect of the LACK OF QUALITY output is why schools(and detroit) are bankrupt,,HIGH INPUT VOLUME of cash flow versus VERY LOW TURNOUT of any thing wrthwhile..YES YOU ARE CORRECT__THE PERFECT UNION PLAN ..just keep my job>>I AM IRREPLACABLE albeit worthless..

Throwing money at a problem. never solves it. Especially when the problem is systemic.

The employees who retired in the HHS district did so only because, the merge failed. Had the merge succeeded those now retirees would have received raises from the NEWLY formed district. They then would have hung on for a couple more years, till the money ran out. Then retire at a much higher pension rate because their pension is based on their three best years. So don't believe they did it to secure a younger teachers job.No point in working any longer without any additional benefit. Further to the point of proving that the problem is systemic the bastard BEO continues to promote from within. Rewarding individuals who don't deserve it. Case and point HHS's new principal and assistant principal. The New Principal was the one threatening fellow teachers for voting against the Merge. What does HHS bastard BEO do? They promote her. It's all about the kids.....right? I think not.

Anytime academia is challenged they go on the attack. I think Teacher is dead on. Sometimes the truth just plain hurts.

In the Evening Telegram a week or two ago there was an article about Jarvis Middle School opening on time even though the flood damaged certain areas and the other work still being done because of the merger changes etc. A 4th grade Ilion teacher was promoted to either principal or assistant principal of that building. I forgot which position she got because that's how little I care. But that's not the point. The point is: At the end of the article it quoted Tangorra as bragging that it's coming together quite fast BECAUSE he had already asked people if they would be interested in certain positions (promotions) if the merger were to happen, way before the merger was even planned for the public to vote upon. All these people were basically quietly 'promised' promotions, and that's why there were so pushy for the merger. That's also why so many were sour when Herkimer voted it down, and why they are still mad seeing their fellow Ilion/Mohawk teachers get promotions when the ones from Herkimer don't. Not only that, but Tangorra KNEW if the merger went through he would automatically become the new superintendent. The school board appointment was just a formality to make it seem as though there is a choice. Otherwise, before the merger, who was he to ask and choose what positions people would be placed in at that time. It was all a scam. Tangorra gave it away during that interview without realizing it just because he wanted to look smart an look like the proactive hero. You should all read the article. It has a large picture of Jarvis school on the front and the title of the article was something like 'Jarvis will be ready' or something like that. Read it. If you read the end of the article and think about it it will make you angry. So glad Herkimer voted it down.

Holy crap where did you read ANY of that in the article? It talked about capital improvement projects, new school uniforms, etc. If the local school districts really cause this much distress in your life, you have some SERIOUS mental issues. Really now, the schools are the biggest problem around? Not welfare, unemployment, lack of industry, etc.? Wow. Somebody in your past educational life really pissed in your tent... But still, you had options to pursue better things and/or a better place to live!

It's true. Read the last part of the article where they quote Tangorra. That's exactly what he said. Then all you have to do is connect the dots. But if you'd rather stay blind then stay blind.

Obviously well well is one of these government tax eaters with the cute remarks. Hopefully they will be one of the next ones looking for a job.gotta love these union slugs in government. Do anything to save their own skin then act holier then tho."Its about the children".cant wait to see these unions fall from grace and be seen for what they really are.one by one till they all fall down.

The silence is deafening. That is how you know you've struck at the heart of Academia. Anything they say now will only further implicate them in their ruse.

Or maybe they are silent because there's no way to have a reasonable debate with someone incapable of reasonable debate.

Maybe there's "silence" because it happens to be a beautiful day worth enjoying.

Or maybe it's because after a while, debating with people who find it necessary to belittle a profession because their own choice of job/career sucks is just a losing battle. Maybe we prefer to just be thankful for the choices we made & could give a shit less what your opinion is.

Maybe it's because as the conversation turned to the merge and who got what job and why, it just got boring. Who cares? If Mickey Mouse got hired you'd have to pay him, too, so what difference does it make?

Maybe it's because it's going to be a beautiful night & we're setting up to sit around the bonfire, toss a few back, and watch the meteor shower... After all, we don't have to work tomorrow!! Yiiipppppeeeeee!!!! Gosh, if only everyone could be so fortunate!!

Sorry you hate your life. Not sorry I like mine... I chose this path a long time ago. This discussion just isn't worth my time anymore- there are too many fun things to do before summer is over.
Glad too

Yet here you are, on this beautiful day enjoying the path you chose on Herkimer Topics.Maybe your just a dim bulb who thinks you have intellect. It;s also nice to know your comparison between your career path and Micky Mouse converge. Thank you for helping make my point. Enjoy the Meteor shower.
