ida has free money- You are the perfect example of
"cutting off your nose to spite your face." Since
the private sector is "screwing" people, then we
all should suffer. I agree whole heartedly that
a large part of the problem in this country is
caused by corporate greed and the loss of jobs
to cheap overseas labor. So how is this connected
to teachers' unions? What we really need is an
educated work force that can keep high-paying
jobs in this country. Go to any hospital in this
country and count the number of foreign born
doctors. These are high-paying jobs, but we
can't produce our own doctors. We don't need
more uneducated hicks, we need to get behind
education and reap the benefits.

DHB- Agree with you completely! My three children
received excellent educations in a "valley" school
and they all have become productive citizens; a
teacher, an engineer, and a doctor. However, they
have all moved out of the valley to other parts of
the country. I have always believed that a school
is a reflection of your community; what the
community is, the school will become. At one time
people in the "valley" valued education and it
showed in the schools. Now schools and teachers
have become the scapegoats; you're right, before
you "dump" on the teachers, look in the mirror
and see what is reflected there. You might be
surprised or maybe even shocked.
Ok OK OK we get it, your three kids left Herkimer and went on to be successful. You are and should be proud. We are dealing with the here and now. Look what is happening in Detroit, where's their union now? Where are the pensions when a city files for Bankruptcy? We can all learn a lesson from union greed. The gravy trains are over, we are all suffering. Herkimer will get through this because they had the good sense to put the brakes on regarding the merge. The only ones who are pissing and moaning are the teachers and retiree's. I'm sorry for them, they are starting to learn what it feels like to be a ditch digger.

Now I finally get it; we should all aspire to be
ditch diggers. I guess things go full circle. My
grandparents came to this country and that's what
they did in the "old country", they were manual
laborers, but they wanted something better for
their children and grandchldren. They valued
education because they saw it as a way to improve
their children's lives. That's why the rest of
the world is passing us now because they still
value education and ,for some reason, we think
it's cool to be uneducated. So your goal is for
everyone to suffer equally, great! Have you asked
yourself the big question, "Why are the gravy
trains over?"Is it because of unions or is it
corporate greed and shipping American jobs over-
seas because of cheap foreign labor? Have you
asked yourself the question, why are CEO's making
hundreds of millions of dollars while the average
worker is suffering?P.S. I said my children went
to a "valley" school, it wasn't Herkimer.

Well, I suppose we could just take the $35,000,000 that A-Rod is going to forfeit for the next couple of years and fund the entire district and all of its employees for the next two years. If you want to talk about who is overpaid, don't complain about the $50,000 a mid-career teacher makes per year, a teacher who must have a minimum of five full years of college education and the responsibility for educating the next generation. Complain about athletes, corporate CEOs, and some of our absolutely corrupt politicians like Cheney who made billions from Halliburton's involvement in war. Get your priorities straight. We don't invest in our schools, we'll be a nation that can't compete with the rest of the world.

I find it very interesting that you name a Republican as an example of a corrupt politician. How about the Dems golden girl Hilary Clinton...talk about corrupt. She was involved with Vince Foster, an insider trader , who made Hilary hundreds of thousands of dollars, and then he mysteriously died?? What about Hilary's involvement in Whitewater,Travelgate,Chinagat e?? How about Bengazi?I am so sick and tired of people bashing Republicans and trying to make Dems look like they are as pure as snow!

I just love how these teachers act so important.they have the responsibility to educate the next generation. In reality not even one thing they teach beyond reading, writing, and basic arithmetic even matter in the real world.most of the bs they teach is the beginning doctrine of lies our leaders decide to tell them to teach.so they can turn out a next class of sheeple. Teachers long ago lost any respect from myself and many others with their greed and self worth.as many have said before , thise who are lazy and cant do, teach.it will be awesome to see not only them but all tax eating scum, bottom feeder government workers suffer.

I only used Cheney as an example. There are, unfortunately, many, many examples on all parties. My comments were not meant in any way as a political statement.

Im not bitter at all just had it up to here^ with these taxes to fund lazy slugs. Lets see how bitter these bottom feeders are once they lose all they were promised.shouldn't really come as a surprise to these government cheese eaters, just look at the multitude of other broken promises from our so called leaders.see once you come to grips with the fact that 30 years of hard work mean nothing and you never really own your house or anything life somehow becomes much simpler.material things mean nothing to me. Ive had it all and lost it so many times. Now my only real goal in life is watching the government fail.and watching all these holier than tho people in government suffer brings me much happiness and joy.i am a happy person for the first time in a long time now. The things people own ,own them.unlike many i am debt free and no longer pay taxes. I figured out their scam long ago when they were taking 700 a wk out of my paycheck. Alot of people are waking up hell alot are kust dropping out and giving back there house. The less u have the more you gain these days. I still make 1600 a wk but off the books. What these tax eater scum dont realize because they live in a delusional world is when the tap runs dry eventually (sooner the better ) america might ne able to turn this country around. The first step in this is breaking these government unions and oh its so clse now we can almost taste it. Enjoy your delusional world while it lasts cause the legs are wobbling and everybody knows its.

You can almost feel the teachers squirming because they know in their hearts their over inflated value and greed is gonna backfire. I bet alot of government employees are starting to rethink their options. Suddenly a 401k will look amazing.people are waking up to this bs union and state mandates and are demanding change.still might be to little to late for alot of the teachers. There will Youth major changes and yes people will lose from promises made. At the end justice will be served for us real tax payers.yes i understand government workers pay tax albeit from taxed money, but i think we all can agree its not the same. Government workers are nothing more then a burden and offer very little if any real value to society

need a ditch digger to cover the casket of a

Class warfare and envy are what is destroying this country.
Wealth can not remain in the hands of the 1%, wihout serious consequences.
When hope and opportunity are taken from the populus, you have what we see in many third world country's, and the inner cities of the US.
Human history has a way of self correction.

There is opportunity. The problem here is that welfare is too nice and comfortable. There is no reason for a lot of these people you choose to look at when you think of Herkimer to get a job.

I do have to admit though, a lot of them are not just unemployed, they are unemployable. But don't equate that to all of Herkimer.

Tree of Liberty- "Hope and opportunity" are there
if your populus is educated. Also, I disagree; I
don't believe history is self-correcting, you
must seize the opportunity if it is there. There
are well-paying jobs in this country that aren't
being filled because we aren't keeping up
educationally. Why can't we produce our own
doctors and engineers? We have the finest colleges
and universities in the world and they are being
filled with foreign born students because they
value education as a way to improve their
condition. Is it because we have become a lazy
and unmotivated society. Sure we need ditch-
diggers, but we also need highly-educated
people. I agree with "herkimer", we have too
many "unemployable" people who don't value
education and use teachers as a scapegoat for
their own short-comings.
