ida has free money- Services which are of no
consequence to 95% of taxpayers; educating your
children, supplying you with drinking water,
collecting your sewage, picking up your trash,
providing fire protection, providing you with
police protection, must I go on? So all you
need is "hwys and maintenance." Think again!
P.S. After reading your post, I would agree
that you did get short-changed on your
education.

ole timer i indeed see your point but like so many others my kid is grown and moves away(thank god)there is nothing here for young people ,second i have a well ,wouldnt drink that canal water they serve in jerkimer,i pay spohn to haul my trash and i dont litter.the fire dept is solely working for insurance companys who inevitably screw home owners and are one of the biggest burdens and lowest return for investment we have. And as far as the 3rd responders ie the police ,i protect my own family as more americans should. Call 911in when someone is in your house. Too late your dead.so nice try ole timer clearly most tax payers only benefit from the hwys which are half ass maintained at best.my guess is you must be a government cheese eater or retired. Because most ole timers i speak with feel the exact same way.and to the teacher with thw potty mouth f u dont be sad, no one has pity for your useless azzes any longer. What pleasure it will be too see these people whining when they lose there health ins and half their pensions .at this point it really is when not if.

herkimers finest there.shoes clearly how they feel about the residents and students.teachers today are just greedy parasites seeking full tume pay and benefits for part time work.they could care less about your children. But taxpayers will have the last laugh soon enough.as the old mantra goes, those who cant do,teach.

I too am sick of listening to teachers whine about how hard their job is. It has to be the most over rated, over paid, under regulated, shiit show for government employment there is. Face it most teachers are lazy and the degree they have isnt worth the paper its written on.and i too cant wait to see that bs union broke up. At best the most qualified teacher is worth 10 bucks an hr,and even thats high for pathetic whining babysitters. Now lets here about your student loans and six yrs of slackin off in college.bottom line without taxpayer funded and mandated employment, none of you could compete for a real job.

news flash- I'm glad you're so self-sufficient,
but if you live in the Village of Herkimer you
can't have your own well and you must have
sewage hooked up to the village. My children
are grown and have moved away, but the education
they received in the Mohawk Valley (not Herkimer)
served them well. One is a teacher, one is an
environmental engineer, and one is a doctor.
When they were in school valley taxpayers paid
for their education, and as long as I live here
I feel that I should be paying taxes for the
children that are in school now. I do get a
"Star" exemption, but I still pay school and
other property taxes. If you think that education
is expensive, the lack of education is even more
expensive. For those of you who think that college
degree is just a piece of paper, when you need
open heart surgery just have one of your uneducated friends "cut" you.

Nope not in the village thank god, just another tax bill you lucky people get but do pay way to much in school and town and county taxes. Paying for an education is one thing i agree. But when it gets to the point where we are basically just funding pensions and payroll and still putting out delinquents with no drive thats where the problems lie.and not all degrees are useless.but teaching from a pre planned course book is suppose to be a diffucult job.oh ok sell it to someone who doesnt know any better.you will never convince me or many others that these whining teachers, not even one is worth the money the unions get them.so suffice to say we disagree.but even you yourself have to admit the writing is on the wall for these and all government workers its not a matter of if its just when. The pensions will be cut in half and the health ins will be taken away. Couldnt happen soon enough for me. And yes i will be laughing at them with no pity .

I guess us uneducated ditch digging idiots showed all of the district employees, who the real boss is. Now shut your whiny little union mouth and get to work. If that's to much for you to deal with, go work in Ilion. I hear they have a mandarin class that needs a dope to teach it.

It's not the teachers' education or work ethic we are complaining about. It is the union's greed in forcing the school to keep up with gilded contracts and benefits at a time when the government is clearly not funding schools as was previously anticipated, and many other people are losing their jobs and getting paycuts. Such people cannot keep up with increased property taxes which go up to make up for the contractual obligations which the unions have deviced to continually go up even in bad economic times. The schools have to cut programs in order to meet these legally binding obligations which most residents see as snobby teachers getting what they want no matter how hard the school's economic state is. People see these union atrocities and the clear face of that are the teachers, when they are really mostly just on the union's train ride. The faceless union heads need to see the reality of the times, but of course they won't because most people have no idea who they are. All residents see are the teachers and equate the school's problem to the teacher's faces. I wish teachers would speak up at union meetings and tell the union heads enough is enough. But of course they can't do that even if the wanted to.

Its not a matter of if its just when. These teachers thinks its funny te te te.bet they wont be laughing when it all comes crashing down. All we all need to do is stand back and watch.they are cutting their own throats with every new contract.taxpayers will see their revenge not only on teachers but all theae government slugs.the funny part is they think it cant happen here, as the world watches it happen every now.not sure if these so called educated people are just naive or just delusional.what part of they can promise you pensions and healthcare but how quickly it can all disappear with absolutely no recourse. If they think that its guaranteed they are just plain ignorant. Nothing is. So laugb at us taxpayers teachers enjoy it. But remember my words cause when it happens ill be sure to remind you.

It's people like you who have a very limited and short memory. It was just a few short weeks ago that the entire Mohawk Valley was bailed out by the very ditch digging, beer drinking, rednecks you make fun of. Clearly all those ditch diggers from The Phone Company, National Grid, Cable Companies, State workers, County workers and our very own Village Ditch diggers made little impression upon you. The hundreds of volunteer redneck fire fighters that were pumping basements out for free for jerks like you. YOU really think you are something special. Thank god for more ditch digging rednecks than there are people like YOU. It's hard working (Ditch Digging) folks that are willing to help a neighbor in need instead of looking down their nose for another union handout. It is YOU who are the minority. Enjoy your pool, because I have stepped in puddles deeper than you. I wear my stupid hat with pride, Because I know MY stupid neighbors love me. THANK YOU to all the ditch diggers and first responders!!!!!

Privately employed in corporate America...but I too am tired of listening to all this "whining" about teachers and public employees and EVERYONE ELSE's jobs being so trivial. Overpaid is not limited to public employees. Try getting decent work out of some local plumbers, electricians, car salesmen, waiters, restaurant owners, home builders, auto mechanics, doctors, dentists, nurses, farmers, etc. etc. or fill in the blanks. Employers are not rushing to build here and it is not because the local, non public work force is so wonderful, educated, and adds value. Look in the mirror.....the local schools and towns are a reflection of what is in that mirror.

DHB- Agree with you completely! My three children
received excellent educations in a "valley" school
and they all have become productive citizens; a
teacher, an engineer, and a doctor. However, they
have all moved out of the valley to other parts of
the country. I have always believed that a school
is a reflection of your community; what the
community is, the school will become. At one time
people in the "valley" valued education and it
showed in the schools. Now schools and teachers
have become the scapegoats; you're right, before
you "dump" on the teachers, look in the mirror
and see what is reflected there. You might be
surprised or maybe even shocked.

Not surprised at all. Service in the private sector is almost none existent. I tend to blame that on corporate greed. The mantra of hard work pays off is an age old lie as far to many people have come to find out.alot if people are working for the same money they worked for 10,15,20 yrs ago.the only people who get raises arou.d here are the government workers and teachers. I know i know we must all be uneducated hicks.these bottom feeding ,tax eating , government cheese workers truly do believe they are better then us.like i will keep saying, its not if, its just a matter of when. There will be more cuts and major concessions soon enough. And i personally cant wait to see them go down. Its gonna be a hard fall, theres gonna be a lot if crying when those pensions go bye bye.enough said the writing is clearly on the wall.when these public service slugs unions fall will be one of the greatest things to ever happen to not only here buy america
