It is tough enough to live in this town with the undesirable people (low life's) on the government dime that have no intention of looking for work and our never ending immigrants from the city. My question is how do we have all of these abandoned buildings and know one is being held Accountable. If the average person lets there home fall to shambles the cods enforcer would be at there door fining the hell out of them. Then the fines would be added to the yearly taxes and eventually the property would be taken away. Why is nothing being done???? Abandoned buildings attract things such as homeless, drug deals, pests (rats, roaches, and bats) and now we can add to the list fugitives running from the cops. It took the police almost a hour to locate the guy because they had no idea what abandoned property he was hiding in. Our down town is shady at best and a lot of people do not find it to be safe on main street Herkimer and it is only getting worse. What can we do??????????

Like any village official they are all a total waste of money. We have two codes enforcers one is more worthless than the next. These buildings should be condemned and dropped. Where's Kuhnle and his side Cancellino? Probably hiding on our dime. Until we get a mayor with a spine these useless civil serpents will suck the taxpayer dry.

yes! you pitiful people should be ashamed of yourselves? leting poor people live in broken down buildings. they have rites to live equally the same as the highest income families in the family. they should be built brand new housing at the cost of tax payers. the favorite contractor always gets the bid, the land lord gets the welfare money and keeps the property, all substisized by your money. yes lets move in brand new housing for these people and move in as many as we can. i am glad you finally pointed out this long neglected fact. and common knowledge of abuse of poor people, sex offenders, and the like living like rats. shocking how you ALLOW and force these people to live while you turned a blinf eye towards your own personal neglect. shocking, Shocking; SHOCKING

Did you see the "abandoned" part of the topic? Yes some of those buildings house people but guess what if the conditions are that deplorable MOVE simple isn't it! I can only imagine the amount of people, kids included, that are going to try to go into the old Glory Days. This building is crumbling and poses a huge danger to the public! Make the owners responsible! Either clean it up for your "tenants" as well as any new business or TEAR it down!

Kuehnle where are you to speak on the subject, Mr. Codes Enforcer??? You are the given proof why this village is in the shape it in. We need new village government to get rid of thee village official and replace them with one's who care about our community. Does the codes enforcer even live in this village?

They are a joke in the Village of Herkimer! Soo many violations they probably don't know where to start. It is definitely time for new codes enforcers.

I grew up in Herkimer, we never had these problems because the PEOPLE were involved. We didn't point fingers at Codes enforcers, we knocked on our neighbors doors and told them to clean up their act or face the consequences. It's that simple. Get involved in YOUR community, help with the problem and quit bitching about what someone else isn't doing.

Exactly, you call the codes enforcer, who does nothing about it either. Part of the problem might be a lack of residents getting involved but the other part of the problem are selfish people who won't clean up after themselves. Lets not forget Harvard on the Hill HCCC, is the puppetmaster pulling the Village strings.

please define "low life's"? according to somebodies statement this just may imply or refer to somebody who was "illegally placed under a tax umbrella"?? isn't that correct? could a person who is in present day slang called a "slum-lord" be considered a so called "low life"? also: are we supposed to aknowledge the fake impression that "your very own personal human feces, that you yourself excreted does not stink"?

It is not the citizens duty to have their neighbor take care of their property it is the government. A codes enforcer duty I too see that properties are kept up to a standard or lets say compliance. Mr. Kuehnle and the other joker there fail to do this. I believe neither one of them are certified to be codes enforcers, henceforth, look at the condition of this village. The attitude of village employees suck you can definitely tell. Look at the condition of the streets. I was reading on here that the DPW superintendent works part time at a Tractor Supply Store? Aren't these employees on call 24/7?? Wonder why our village is in trouble.
