And you seriously think you are going to fix this anytme in the near future?? Are you on drugs? Hahaha, you were a BOCES grad right?

Don't know and don't want to step on toes to do anything about it are two different things. The problem is not that we don't know what to do. The problem is nobody wants to be the one to actually do something about it. Let's merge and make the problem worse later. And it's not 15 years like you just said. It would have been 5 to 7 years. Do the math. All the math. Not just the numbers you choose to look at.
You do the math! It is 15 years, not 5 to 7 years. The best scenario was the Ilion-Mohawk merger, other two proposals would've have caused more problems than they would have fixed. I couldn't be happier that Herkimer voted no, I wish them luck but I think they are going to be screwed until they fix the state aid formula. Meanwhile, Ilion-Mohawk will be able to add programs and not have to cut anything in the next decade or so. What people don't understand, even without the add'l state aid the two district should be merged.

You people keep talking about fixing the problems NOW, but do you know what the problems are? You talk about the high teacher pay and benefits, which are good for this area, but it is in line or lower than most districts in the area or state. What are you going to do? Renegotiate new contracts? Great! You succeed in reducing the teachers benefits and salary! Now what are you going to do when your best teachers are leaving to go to other district because they have more resources? The problem needs to be fixed on the state level, not locally. If you try to do something locally, the kids are only going to penalized compared to the surrounding districts. Herkimer's biggest problem is a lot of the businesses don't pay property taxes. Why? Because the village and county cut 30 year deals with developers, which is not smart. What did it do for them? Brought retailers into downtown that funneled revenue away from the small business owners that paid taxes, now they are receiving less overall business taxes from properties because the small businesses is gone. Municipalities need to stop cutting deals with these out of state developers, it's hurting them in the long run, our officials need to have more vision.

If one (1) teacher is supporting a family the retirement is 65k. Seems reasonable to me.

If that same teacher had married another teacher their combined retirement would be 130k.

If the two teachers were to add a bisexual teacher into their lives their combined retirement is about 200k.

What about a commune??? omg

Same retirement scenario for Federal, State, County and Village employees who marry. And let's not forget Politianís who marry.

Maybe we should prohibit the marriage of people receiving pay from tax dollars.

Ilion Debt 25,000,000.00
Mohawk Debt 12,000,000.00
Total Debt 37,000,0000.00
Money on the table: 42,000,000.00
Total Debt: 37,000,000.00
Money left on Table 5,000,000.00
Doesn't seem like a lot to form a whole new district.
Original Promised Aid 50,000,000.00
Mohawk Ilion District 42,000,000.00
Left over: 8,00,000.00
Herkimer Debt: 1,333.000.00
Hell if NYS gives us 4 million and Frankfort 4 Million. Herkimer would be in good shape. Looks like a 2.670,000 surplus if we could get it.No?

You are sooo dumb. Must be you didn't understand the merger bible you were given. Yearly incentive aid payments start to diminish after a few years. Transportation costs rise about 10% per year. Other costs rise as well. Contractual obligations will continue to increase because with the newfound money nobody will see the need to do anything about it. Same administrators, you see? Why are you so stupid. Toothless methmouth trying to figure out society's problems. Give it a rest.

Raising a family after retirement? Really? More like lifetime super benefits plus $65000 to in some cases $80000 for having worked 180 a year. Nice retirement don't you think? At the cost of the next generation's children. Maybe the better teachers will teach because they want to teach. And the ones who teach because of the 185 days off a year with yearlong-like pay and guilded benefits will be the ones leaving if their superchecks start looking more like normal checks. Sometimes you have to weed your garden to make it thrive. Time to start weeding out the leeches.

Transportation is not 100% state aided. You must have been drunk or listened to someone who didn't know what they were talking about. Oh and for the record I think football is way overrated. But that's beside the point, it wouldn't make a big difference in the budget if it was cut down. Contractual obligations are the real problem. Look at the numbers. But nobody wants to come to terms with that fact - including you.

Aid is 4.4 million for "5" years and drops by about 400k for the next 9, fact. If transportation increases 10% the state picks up over 80% of the increase, fact. Upon merging Ilion and Mohawk pick up 725k per year because of Ilion's more favorable bldg aid ratio, fact. In addition Ilion/Mohawk receive their regular state aid with the states shortfall, fact.

Herkimer and Frankfort receive their regular state aid with a shortfall also, fact. Now add that state aid to No additional money, NONE. Everything you continue to run your mouth about, if true means your schools will be doing half days in 2014 and be taken over by the state in 2015.

You are dumb as a rock. You're getting nothing from the state. The state doesn't reward asshools.

Ilion/Mohawk will not be paying their debt with the 42 MILLION incentive aid. Ilion/Mohawk will be paying off their debt with 725k they will be receiving each year when Mohawk's debt is aided at Ilion's more favorable bldg aid ratio. Ain't that a bitch.

All this while you stand around with your finger in your azz. Great job fella's.

Not true. But you're too dumb to understand. Not worth my time since it's over anyway. Have fun in Iliohawk and enjoy your temporary state incentive which does nothing but patch your deficits for a couple of years. It's not even enough to set up new programs. Leave us alone here in Herkimer. We'll be fine without ballooning our costs.
