Well said. Also remember that Ilion teachers were getting letters from the union stating - If the merger passes your new salary will be $******. The number in each letter was larger than the letter recipient's current salary, so the recipients could see they were getting raises without anyone actually saying it. And the smart thing is that not two letters had the same new salary written on it. So if a letter leaked out the union would know who leaked it even if he/she covered up the name & address. That's why nobody has seen these nor knows about that. With such smart professional unions the volunteer part time school boards don't have a chance. Including the main old guy in Herkimer who thinks he's so smart. Arrogant yes. Smart not as much as he thinks.
another lie. The union cannot determine what their salaries would be until the new School Board negotiated those contracts with the respective unions. Nobody has seen these letters because they don't exist.

Crybaby. Believe what you want to believe. That's why you lost. You have no sense of reality. You choose not to see the truth. That's no way to run a campaign. Loser.

Because we didn't all come vote on the first vote. We didn't think people would be dumb enough to pass the straw vote. A huge poor school? Comeon. Really? Talk about kicking the can down the road. Then what happens in 5 to 7 years when just the cost of the doubled transportation alone catches up and then surpasses the amount of then decreasing incentive aid? What about the other rising costs? Or the so codenamed 'contractual obligations' that would have been allowed to keep increasing by using some of that incentive aid? And at that point we would be a much bigger and still poor school. The problem would be much bigger then. But that would not be the current administrators' problem so who cares. "We'll have a few years to worry about it later" They said. Meanwhile we'll live it up. NO! we have to take care of it NOW! If you only knew the socioeconomic positioning that was going on behind the scenes amongst individuals. That's why many people were floored and devastated when the vote was read. That's why you keep moaning about it and trying to point fingers. It's over loser. Move on or move away if you don't like it. Nobody will miss your girly whining anyway. Give it up. Loser.
bfd...all the vote proved is there's more idiots in Herkimer than previously thought. I can't believe you losers are still proud of being ignorant and/or duped.

Your statement…"We need to take care of it NOW!" You are funny as fk. Seriously the smile on my face hurts. If you're not kidding (I think you are) you are by far dumbest individual we have heard from.

If a school with 42 MILLION EXTRA in their budget can't survive in the valley in 5 to 7 years, where will Herkimer and Frankfort be, without the money?

Herkimer is fked because of 1.3mil this year. For the next 5yrs Ilion/Mohawk will be receiving 4.5 million above their normal aid and in 7yrs they'll be receiving 3.5 million extra. In 12yrs they will receiving 1.3mil extra and their school will be in the BLACK.

How does Herkimer's future financial and academic situation look?

Pretty crappy--but the good news is that the best way to close a budget gap is to get rid of an expensive footbll program. Herkimer has room to cut more things; basketball wrestling, field hockey, soccer.

Way to reply to yourself. Read what you wrote. You are so dumb you still can't see it. All you saw and still see is the one number. You don't see what would happen in 7 years. You choose to ignore it. And to your own reply to yourself talking about Ilion/mohawk receiving 4.2 million next year in extra incentive aid... Think about it. That also happens to be just about how much they both combined would be in the red had they not merged. And they are being promised everything that both districts combined already had. So the incentive aid only bandaids the problem until it becomes less aid after I think it is year 7. In the meantime they are adding how many buses and bus routes with transportation aid for only the first year? So if you do the math which it seems to me you are incapable or unwilling to do, even with the incentive aid it will not be enough after the first year. Can't you see that? That's why in Herkimer it needs to be fixed now even if it hurts a little, rather than fixing an even bigger problem in 7 years and forever being stuck with Ilion with no way out. How can you continually choose to ignore that? I'll tell you why: Because for yourself the most important thing is your paycheck, benefits, and retirement plan. That's why.

Well whatever the numbers are the fact of the matter is that you have to cut spending. In big business, in government, and in schools. Look at the ridiculously gilded benefits. Look at the retirement plans. On top of what a family of 2 teachers were able to invest in with their up to $80000 a year pay each (160,000 a year for both in the valley) while they were working 180 days a year, they will still get $130000 or so per year for the rest of their lives. Talk about milking the system. Look at salaries and contractual obligations. Look at those numbers. That is the problem.

Before you go complaining about someone else's math skills, you need to upgrade your own ! With Herkimer students academically performing in the bottom 10% of all upstate New York school districts, I am beginning to see that this is more of an adult problem than a student problem.

The problem with Herkimer and Frankfort is that the cost of a school, any school, exceeds the tax intake dollars. That is NOT going to change anytime soon. Costs will only increase over time so today's problem is going to go on and on and on.... Now Herkimer needs $1.3M to get through next year and it is not going to end there. If you want Herkimer to remain independent, you are going to have to pay for it. I am sure the school takes checks !

Ilion and Mohawk resolved that issue by combining resources, much like a corporation reorganizes when structural costs exceed the sales generated. They have reduced their structural costs....one set of administrators instead of 2,one set of transportation costs instead of 2, one tax base instead of 2 separate ones, etc. Review the top performing schools. You will see most had a merger in their not too distant past.

Ilion and Mohawk still have things to work on and work out, but I wish them well!

You refuse to see what's written in the previous posts. Blind fool. You also just admitted that in a few years we would have been in even deeper sht plus we would have been stuck as a huge poor school forever. Read the previous 15 or so posts with a fresh mind. The only real solution is to take care of the problem now. Not kick the can down the road and by the time you get to it it has become a rusty can. Kind of like your brain. Idiot.

You are just so stupid that every time you write your stupidity shows more and more. Just really dumb!

If we had merged...

In a few years (15yrs) if we haven't figured it out, we would all be in the same shht we're in now. Only then we'd be together which means we lost our colors (oh how terrible), a generation of kids benefited and we'll have no debt, like Ilion and Mohawk's future, at the worst.

First you're way off on your debt guess. If it were a true picture the same figures would apply to Herkimer and Frankfort. Your prediction for Ilion and Mohawk to only slide by is a DEATH SENTENCE for Herkimer and Frankfort, death and no less.

The problem is you know you're full of shtt but you continue to post. All monies and budgets are public knowledge. Wishing doom on Ilion and Mohawk won't work and it won't help the sad state of affairs Herkimer and Frankfort have on their hands.

NEITHER district's debt is listed in the study. What IS listed is the additional $725k we would realize when Mohawk's debt is aided at Ilion's more favorable bldg aid ratio. Also, Ilion's debt is $28m and Mohawk's is $12m, and the annual debt service from each district (that is principle and int paid) each fiscal year is similar in proportion to their respective budgets.
But I'm sure you already knew that.

Don't know and don't want to step on toes to do anything about it are two different things. The problem is not that we don't know what to do. The problem is nobody wants to be the one to actually do something about it. Let's merge and make the problem worse later. And it's not 15 years like you just said. It would have been 5 to 7 years. Do the math. All the math. Not just the numbers you choose to look at.

Do the math for Ilion over the next 15yrs. In addition to their state aid, figure in 42 mil and 750k per year realized from bldg aid ratio increases from simply merging. That 750k alone pays their combined debt.

Then do the math with Herkimer over the next 15. In addition to their state aid, figure NOTHING!

Herkimer and Frankfort are cutting. They decided that is the way to go.

Ilion and Mohawk are adding programs. They decided that's the way to go.

There's the pot calling the kettle black !

Ilion and Mohawk are giving change a try. I am not a taxpayer in either locale, but I have been part of school mergers and and I wish them well !

Herkimer and Frankfort decided not to. Independence is fine too. You knew what the cost would be when you voted. Now pay the bills !

Nothing stupid about that !
