Court was today. Anything happen?
Judge has to decide within two weeks if dogs should be held for evidence and there is a Court date in April for a trial. She doesn't feel she has to pay to the shelter for all their vet bills, etc. She is allowing these poor dogs to linger even longer. Shame, shame, shame. Karma is a bitch.

Maybe the people should picket in front of the court house the day of the hearing. The judge can sentence her to come out and beg us for forgiveness while we mistreat her like she did those poor dogs.

Why has the DA made numerous plea offers to avoid a trial? He has basically offered to drop all charges and pay $0 fine as long as she gives up the dogs. Is this justice in your eyes Human Society?? By the sounds of it with the DA begging for a plea, he clearly knows he has no case and doesn't want to be embarrassed in a public trial where the truth will come out! Might be time to vote in a new DA next elections.

The laws definitely have to be changed. Call or write your legislator and ask them to support Brindis's proposed changes.. You can get more info on Lainey's army Facebook page

(WKTV)- Barbara Smith, who was accused of neglecting 12 dogs in Herkimer County, has pleaded guilty to two counts of misdemeanor torture/injuring/not feeding an animal, Herkimer County District Attorney Jeff Carpenter said.

Smith entered the plea on Thursday before a hearing.

According to Carpenter, sentencing will be adjourned until June. Smith is expected to receive three years of probation, during which time she can not own or possess any dogs except for the one she currently owns. She is also expected to have to pay the Herkimer County Humane Society $17,000 for veterinarian bills and confinement costs.

The dogs have now all been surrendered to the care of the Herkimer County Humane Society. The group now has full ownership rights of the dogs.

One of the 12 dogs had to be euthanized because of poor health, the humane society said. Once the other 11 dogs are spayed and neutered, they will be available for adoption.
