Isn't a conflict of interest having the Village Street Superintendent moonlighting at a tractor store. Wonder where the Village will buy its tractors from now? The village should grow a set and fire this disgrace from the village. The New York State Attorney Generals office should look into this.

So what if someone takes a second job to help make ends meet? Any major equipment is either purchased through a bid process or getting one of three quotes. You really are that simple minded! Learn how the purchase process is done for towns and villages.

This is Herkimer and nothing is played by the rules. He is a village official who is on call 24/7 and should not be moonlighting. If the job doesn't pay that well maybe it is not a necessary position we the taxpayers would want it eliminated.

What is this thread? I've never worked a job where they said "you can't work a part time one". I'm sure he's available for emergencies and you'd think he's making 100K a year which I doubt as (1) it's the village - come on, and (2) he wouldn't be taking a part time crap job if he was. No one can be expected to work 24/7. I think people must be jealous.......... or applied for a job at the tractor place and didn't get it. Geez.......... find something useful to rally about.

Firemen are on call 24/7 even when they are not on their 24 hr shift... they all have second jobs (3rd and 4th jobs) never knew it was illegal to have more than one job considering the first does not pay enough to feed your family?

legitimately asking, is he doing the side jobs when he should be at work? Im guessing he is on a salary for getting a specific amount of work done or to deal with certain issues act. so if he is doing his job then has time why cant he make extra income..? not sure why people are thinking money is being taken out of their pockets to pay him extra to do side jobs..? show me your math on this? What? They aren't on call 24/7. They are on call for a week every few weeks 24/7 during the winter so plowing sanding gets done. There's no rule against working another job whatsoever. Check NYS Labor Law for all this - it's right on line.

HE IS ON CALL 24/7 365 days a year!!! He has taken a position that requires this. He is the superintendant of the street dept. If there is a storm of any kind he needs to be AVAILABLE if he is not, then maybe someone else should take this position who is willing to be there. Someone who would appreciate it.#1. making 55,000 a year #2. a safe perminent secure position.#3. Having benefits etc. There are alot of people who would die for a job like this. If he can't make ends meet on this salary, god help him. He doesn't support his children, doesn't have a house, lives with his girlfriend. Need I say more?

Interesting..........I've never heard of being on call 24/7/365. Can never even go anywhere? Even doctors aren't on call like that. If that is the job, then whoever would take it is an idiot - especially for the amount he must make. Can't even have a beer on a Saturday night "because I might have to work......." Somebody's seriously job some envy or jealousy isuses going.......... no doubt. I need not say more. Funny......
