Do you hear that sound? It is very faint, it is the sound of jobs and a reliable tax source for the surrounding towns and the county catching the midnight train to another state. It is only a matter of time. Get your affairs in order Ilion.

What strikes me is the fact that for all these years the republican majority has done nothing with remington arms. they could have given space at the pumpkin patch, but, we all know that has been vacant for many years. Marc butler? where as he been all these years. Oh yes they will point their fingers at everyone else when they should look at in the mirror. Yes it was silent at the state of the county address. the republican emperor has no clothing, much less any ideas for growth in our area.

What a joke this Bono guy is. He stuttered when he was asked why he wouldn't comment on the Arms. What puppet is pulling his strings? Is it Cuomo or is it the Arms? Or is it the backroom dealers who now realize they were not such big players and were completely left out of the dialog and were really surprised by the Alabama move. This small town politician who has had his nose up the Governor's butt all summer, trying to get his mug in every picture with the Gov during the floods, who liked to say he called the Governor and the Governor said this or that..the problem is these guys on the legislature are too full of themselves and quite frankly he could make no comment because he doesn't know anything. Pumpkin Patch vacant for years with millions invested and they can't find any business to go there. They'll give it away to the Arms and still in 5 short years the money men of the Arms will still leave. They will leave Ilion and Frankfort little by little and leave behind pollution and ruin. And the small town politicians will again look like deer in headlights. Sad for all the young people. The guy says be positive. I can say he is positively a FOOL.

Except the high taxes in NYS are the real problem. Nothing in the Safe Act says those guns can't be made in NYS. Besides, most of what they produce is shipped and sold outside of NYS and thus the effect of the Safe Act on Remington is grossly overstated.

The plant is almost 200 years old and 30 years ago New York state promised to help them build a new plant within 50 miles from current location. The employees unionized and local politicians bickered. Alas Alabama a Right to Work state, super low taxes and utility rates. You have to admit that over the years that these valley people chased away several places. Mohawk Data Science, Remington Rand, Duofold, Union Tools, Library Bureau, Standard Furniture and Univac just to name a few.

People ancient factories filled with inbred people doesn't make a quality product.
