HPD are the biggest joke ever. While Frankfort has nothing but corrupt cops, Herkimer is blessed with the laziest bunch of schmucks ever. All those cars and SUV's for a village no more than 1.5 miles in radius. Really? Then they were looking into getting a motorcycle because a grant was offered? Lets get rid of the HPD and let the State police handle it. At least they'd have an excuse why it took them longer to get to a crime scene in the Village. The HPD, when they actually show up, are about as useful as tits on a bull.

As long as I can remember cops would walk the streets. Why did they do away with it? The new cops should get a taste of walking instead of sitting on their ass the whole night. The cops get lazier and lazier and the taxes get higher and higher. To be honest the Herkimer cops need to be walking because they are all FAT!

I saw one of these lazy asses watching Youtube videos on the computer in his patrol car while waiting in the drive thru line at Dunkin Donuts. No lie.

I've also seen a Village of Frankfort PD car in the drive thru at the Herkimer Dunkin. Just about 5 miles outside his jurisdiction, ya think??

They have too many cops on and during the holidays they have extra ones-OVERTIME! Yet, they still manage not to keep the huge 1.5 mile radius village safe. Good job Mayor!

Stars in their own mind. The reality is that they are nothing but 20 dollar an hr blue collar servants, like the highway dept or firemen. They unlock your car when you lock your keys in it, chase down stray dogs, direct traffic, write parking tickets and other mundane tasks that people with HCCC associate degrees perform. It's not real impressive to be a village cop, let alone have that be your pinnacle in life. Nobody respects the police anymore and the police do nothing to deserve or change it. Far too many of them strut around like we are supposed to be impressed because they are village cops. They need to remember to save their flashlights for their second careers as security guards.

Why don't all you poor people of Herkimer call Mr. Malone and tell him how you feel? If any of you read the paper, it explained that Herkimer has a higher percent on cases solved than the average. Also, police still do walk a beat. Why don't you get the facts? Bashing the police dept. never gets old to you people. Why don't you do something about it. Good luck with calling a State Trooper on anything!

ahhh, what's the matter? couldn't make it as a firefighter and now you bash them? There is nothing part time about two 24 hour shifts in one week when a typical full time week for most is over 35 hours in a week.

I hope your cardboard box you live in under the bridge catches fire and see you cry for the HFD to come put it out.

You are definitely an HPD cop hoping to get Malone's position. I'm guessing "Risi" with the "you people comment". Good luck with that one, with your legendary brother! Your statement "police still do walk a beat" I would have to disagree with you. Maybe other police departments they do, but I have never seen a herkimer cop walking the "beat" in quite a few years. So quit your lying, that would entail them to get out of their vehicle and actually work. There are enough wasted cops on for one of them to still walk the beat. The mayor and board need to step in.

In the news today they busted both burglars and they've been in prison several times each. And they were linked to a burglary several weeks before Christmas. Do you think if the HPD actually investigated and took fingerprints from the scene of these crimes they actually would have tracked them down through their criminal records?

Nope, instead one of the parole officers noticed one of the two has stolen property. Another fine screw up on the part of the HPD.

Hey, Malone, that fingerprint scanner you have is there to record fingerprints so your excellent "investigators" have something to compare to from crime scenes.

Omg it took parole to catch the bad guys lmao lmao. Another fine job by HPD and their low life useless investigator. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the present investigator the same guy that got arrested by his own department? It must be a prerequisite to get that position.
