It's about time someone stepped up and did what needed to be done. Good for them. Sick and tired of narcissistic people thinking they are untouchable. I hope all public officials are watching because people are tired of your bullshit. You should all be held accountable from now on. The people from the valley have had enough.

The merger is a growth that is sorely needed, it's a start. We need to consolidate more than the schools. All the people crying, "my school, my school" need to get out of the past. At least the fire departments are looking into it. Towns and villages are next. Get the vote over and set up the new district.

If its such a great idea why do they constantly have to use illegal and deceitful tactics to try to push it through.

You cannot walk around with ballots and the only way a person is able to fill themout is if they are not goign ot be available on the day of hte vote. Going door to door with them to hand out is ridiculous.

I heard Cosimo Tangorra is under investigation by the FBI for hoarding taxpayer money in secret hidden accounts off the books for the Ilion Central School and failed to maintain the legally allowed balance. This was about a year ago in Ilion it was all over the papers but people seem to forget. Look into this people he also did this in Trumansberg.

FBI- I heard the FBI has evidence that Jimmy
Hoffa is buried under Cosimo Tangorra's drive-
way. No wonder they're investigating him for
hoarding taxpayer money.

Did you forget to take your meds again. Sure, this is a slap in the face of the pro-merger folks. But if the allegations are true, the vote should not take place and whoever was involved needs to be held accountable.

You wouldn't guess that by looking at the pro-merger Facebook page though. Seems they're quite comfortable with Tangorra rigging the vote because it works in their favor.

They think the no-merger folks are somehow trying to deprive them of their right to vote. I think what's happening is some in the community have a problem with a rigged vote....and rightly so. Regardless of your feeling about the merger, we should all stand up against a rigged vote.

Question what are they going to do when the money is all used up in the next 5 to 7 years I mean really 57 million only goes so far. What then when the money is gone??? Will they ask for another merger or my guess would be they will cut school sports and what not. Mark my words this is a short term fix to a ling term problem. Oh wait no one has thought how much money the new principal to this larger district will get paid makes since to merge if it benefits some ones pocket. And honestly all the data they provided are assumptions of how it could go not a Def. Can't wait til all you pro merger parents are mad as hell when that lovely funding is gone and your school and land taxes rise because it will happen. And saving money on transportation lol please you will spend more in the long run. Let's look at what they say about the merger like it the presidental election they all sing a good story til you get them in office then they don't do what they promised everyone. So to all those that vote yes hope it don't bite ya on your butts. And one more point if these three quoted poor schools couldn't run on there own what makes you think combined that they will do any better.

Take three small poor schools and merge them into one and what do you get? One large poor school. Ba dum dum!$59mm will only take you so far. Yes voters are short sighted, at best.

And putting the students of 3 failing districts into 1 will not make them geniuses. If anything, it might even make the graduation rate drop more. If a student in Herkimer is coming late to school now, and is able to walk to school, what do you think is going to happen if this same student misses the bus to Ilion. Do you think they are going to walk to Ilion? They just won't go at all. Which could lead to more drop-outs. This merger will be a disaster for all 3 districts.

Mohawk has one bus for each of its ten bus runs. They transport about half of their students from a 40 square mile district which encompasses 4 different townships. One bus will pick up all the students on that run and take them to either the elementary or high school. Under a merger there will be six sites to transport students to depending on age. They will now need 4 buses for each run-one to drop off students at the elementary school, one for the 5-6 grade(high school), one for the junior high school in Herkimer, and one for the high school in Ilion. Tell me again that this merger would be about efficiency.17 million for transportation alone.Mohawk's entire budget is 14 million.

hey Idiots- what about the children? Stop thinking about yourselves.Hello "vote no". People do not become "geniuses". They become educated. Why should students be allowed to be late and what about the parents taking some responsibility for getting the kids up and out on time? Your points are pointless.

STEPHEN GLOO quotes from Facebook merger page:
Since the "band of three" has decided to be our voice in the merger issue, here is a short list of what they don't want the chilldren (Learn how to spell children Steve) to have; the return of courses and curiculums (clearly shows you need these new merger programs for sure) that have already been eliminated, retention of existing and expansion of sports programs, additional support staff and services, better preparation for college, teachers with support to be the best they can be. Here's a short list of what they don't want us as parents and taxpayers to have; a stable tax rate, an efficiently staffed school, a school system that could make our communities a magnet for families looking for a foward (almost Steve you almost spelled forward right!) looking district. Above all else, the 'band of three" decided that YOU shouldn't have a voice in making those decisions! Shame on them!

No Steve shame on YOU! You who with the friends of the merger working with the superintendents now under legal attack working FOR Vicki Judd who leads the friends the merge group, working in your COMFY SKILLLESS GOVERNMENT JOB that your daddy gave to you, handed to you when he was chair of the county legislator. Yes Steve YOU ARE A FOLLOWER a CORNIE for a gang you belong to as well. The difference is your gangs membership is shrinking the vote NO gang in swelling. The government is corrupt the stay wont be granted and the people of Herkimer will VOTE YOU down. Then be careful Steve when you hang out with people getting legally attacked you might get hit next you angered a lot of citizens and taxpayers. When did you find time during work hours to post on Facebook these past few months. Maybe the County Taxpayers will forgive you. Maybe they wont, ask questions and take you down next.

“Make sure you vote, if you haven't already. Because there are places in this world where powerful forces will do everything they can to try to stop you. Places such as Afghanistan, Iraq and the Mohawk Valley.”
– Jay Bookman, in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Oh, wait - I edited that quote, ever so slightly....

So Cheryl, you're basically saying our merger vote is like the oppression of a despotic regime that kills and slaughters people. You are saying citizen activists exercising their rights to petition legally are the same as Osama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussien. You know what we call that analogy, insane. You know what we call the person who makes that analogy? In serious need of a life and a heavy regiment of psychiatric assistance.

Great stuff on that Facebook page gang is bigger than that. Now Cheryl it is time to watch the friends of the merge "disappear".

So the pros they want to know who leads the opposition. How bout they tell us who leads and the full membership of the friends group. Then we can all slap their names as defendants on a real law suit. Come on out Vicki, Steve, Dale, Nick, Molly....stop hiding you know we already got you.

I haven't noticed any slowdown in Cosimo's spending. If we are running out of money, why haven't they cut anything out the budget in the past few years? Did they intentially back us into a corner financially to force a merger?
