You see a different provider and nurse when you go to Urgent Care, because it is just that Urgent Care, not PRIMARY care!!

If you would like continuity of care and see the same provider, I would suggest you find a Primary Care provider. Primary Care providers normally have someone on call for weekends and holidays, perhaps eliminating the need for urgent care.

The problem with Bassett urgent care in Herkimer is that the morons that check you in after 5 pm when all the smart workers go home with the doctors. After that it's Morons and PA's. I take all my health concerns directly to Cooperstown now, problem solved.

Medicaid recipients should NOT be entitled to the same health care I pay good money for. Old and broke? Should have planned better. Can't afford insurance? Maybe you should have gone to college or should get a second job. Sorry if you don't like my opinion but I don't like the societal leeches that live around here either.
Nobody is stopping anyone from going to college, working hard and saving for retirement.

Ha! I have a full time job (nothing special) and I get fidelas and medicaid. Full coverage dental and just had knee surgery paid in full by my wonderful insurance. Nooooo co-pays for office visits or emergency. Do I feel bad for getting the insurance? Nope, not at all. I'm a single mother with a full time job and would rather be home with my child when I'm not working rather then working a second job killing myself and always being to tired to raise my child. Insurance through my job would be $400 a month. Really! I have rent, car payment, car insurance, utilities, baby sitter, food, gas, ect..... not going to happen when I'm at a $12.50hr job! I went years without insurance until just recently. I feel deserve it more then others, others that don't work but can! My dentist told me I'm covered better then the insurance at my job.

Bassett has got to be the worst bunch of hillbilly doctor and medical staff I've ever met. They bring a banjo to the exam room

Wow ! I work, am well educated, well paid, have good employer based insurance, have a sizable retirement, and all that . I also was suddenly ill late 2012 and spent 6 days in Bassett in Cooperstown on a critical care floor. I never thought much about the health care debate before, but got a rude awakening laying there. Countless people on the floor were wiping out their lifetime savings or selling homes to manage current care costs WITH INSURANCE ! Got news for you.....do not assume this is NOT going to be you someday regardless of the type of insurance you have. I was fortunate all was covered, but I will never forget others in awful positions not of their own doing with both private insurance and with Medicaid.

I think the point is that yes there a lot of deserving needy people who are on Medicaid. On the other hand see a lot of young people with no jobs , popping out kids like theres no tomorrow who are leeches of the system. If you don't have a job or any ambition and Medicaid and social services and walking down Main St pushing a baby while smoking a cig and drinking a Pepsi is your whole day you should be grateful for any care you get and not be a critic of the Professionals who give you that care or the taxpayers who supply it for you.

I have used Bassett Urgent Care several times and always got good care. If your kid has the sniffles and someone walks in with something more serious, that person will always be seen before your kid. The person working reception has a specific job to do, getting your insurance information and reason for the visit. I've seen people try to engage the receptionist in prolonged conversation. Confidentiality at the desk has to be considered. They're not being rude, they're being efficient. They really can't speed up the process for you or answer a lot of questions.

All in all, I'm very satisfied with my primary care physician, urgent care, and the ER. They've treated me for years. The post-op nursing care I got at Cooperstown was also very professional. Bassett is dedicated to rural medicine and clinical outreach in a variety of locations, and we're lucky to have them here.

Urgent care is for general illness. People that go there for cardiac respiratory or abdominal issues that require surgery should not be going there. Nor to little falls hospital. For serious ailments go to Utica or Bassett in Cooperstown.

That's true, but if you go to the ER at Little Falls for serious problems requiring surgery, chances are they'll be sending you to Cooperstown. OTOH, if you're that sick, you probably need to see someone right away.

With the exception of having a gallbladder attack erroneously diagnosed as a UTI, I've had good luck with the Little Falls ER.(The "UTI" problem was fixed by a cholecystectomy. Go figure.)

Little Falls has been cited on several occaisions. A nurse in the ER down there got cited for, "Verbal assault on a patient" in February. The patient was a friend of mine and filed a formal compliant. A receptionist backed her up, and the nurse was cited for her behavior. My friend was brought in by ambulance in extreme pain, only to get verbally abused by the nurse in admitting, for no apparent reason.

Two years ago, my son was showing flu symptoms (during an "outbreak"), so we called our physicisn's office, hoping to get him seen right away & maybe prescribed Tamiflu. That office was overbooked for the day, & told me that our best bet was to take him to Urgent Care before the weekend. I drove him up there, and explained that my Bassett provider told me to go there. I was greeted by a rude individual, who scolded me for not realizing that the Herkimer Center was now "ConVENIENT" Care, not "URGENT" Care, and that I had no business being there without an appointment. When I again explained that my own BASSETT office told me to go there, they wouldn't proceed until I gave the phone number to that office so they could verify that what I was saying was true. After waiting forever for them to come back, they finally entered my son into the system & he was seen. But not before she continued to show her disgust over how my physicisn's office and I were so ignorant that we confused the purpose of the new "Convenient" Care system. I was pissed... And reported the situation to Cooperstown. And, just to be clear, we are a working family, with excellent insurance, and we don't run our kids to the doctor every time they have a sniffle.
