And mark my words and pass them along, Cuomo and the State of New York won't be helping any of us EITHER!!! Yet ALL of our School Tax BILLS will be in our mailboxes at the end of next month, just like every other year, like nothing AT ALL terrible or devastating happened to any of us two weeks ago!! My how soon we are all going to be forgotten about, a little more every day until the flooding of 2013 becomes a foggy distant bad memory as the flooding of 2006 now is in all of our minds.

As we all go further into credit card or home equity debt charging the water heaters, furnaces, dehumidifiers, drywall and insulation, freezers and refrigerators, furniture and the other necessities we lost to flooded basements and first floors here in this forsaken region called the Mohawk Valley and that we call home, I suppose we should all be thankful that our homes weren't all leveled by tornadoes as those homes out in the midwest were earlier this summer. Anyone still think that global warming is fiction?? We probably haven't seen nothing YET!

No, I'll bet the best Mr. Cuomo is going to do for us after all of the talking he did while touring this are is offer us low-interest loans. After all, isn't New York broke, or close to being so?

So, nothing for us individual homeowners from FEMA, yet this country finds ways to send BILLIONS of dollars in foreign aid to foreign countries in the form of cash, food, weapons and military assistance. But NOTHING for us lowly flooded-out tax-paying homeowners in Central New York. Gee, I hope this posting somehow finds its way to Mr. Cuomo and Mr. Obama. If either of you men are reading this, I voted for BOTH OF YOU!!!

I heard that in 2006, FEMA only was available if you were poverty stricken. Otherwise, there was nothing available.

I was not flooded but prayed for all those that were. My heart goes out to you all.

There are certain guidelines and criteria that must be met in order to receive FEMA assistance. Unfortunately, these flooded areas didn't qualify. I feel bad for those that were flooded and are not covered by their insurance. On the flip side, your town planning board and government officials were told of how this mass flooding could occur if they did not invest in proper sewer and water drainage. Your town officials decided they didn't want to spend the money on this. That is sad. Whenever New construction is going on, these developers that are permitted by your planning board and elected officials approve the construction. They come in build and have huge drainage systems that just connect to your old ones, but instead all new drainage should be installed in area. Again, don't blame president or governor, blame your local officials for not planning properly to help their community.

Ask yourself why the last flood (Irene) was covered - damage was much less.

Here's a glass of kool aid for ya.

Are you suggesting that lawsuits against our villages would be successful? You are implying negligence, sir.

How unhinged are you? Didn't someone tell you to pop open a cold one and turn up your ac on another thread? If you lost property or incurred damage apply for the NYS flood assistance program and quit whining on Topix. Oh, and if you "crap in your hand," go wash it off in Bellinger brook!
great job

We will receive FEMA assistance for municipal reconstruction this will definitely benefit everyone in the future. I firmly believe that the state should be the one that should be paying. We are one of the highest taxed states in the U.S. time to cash in! Let our own tax money repay us! Cuomo finally did the right thing by giving us 4 million but now let's see how it's dispersed! Then the shit will really hit the fan!

And HOW FAR do you think only 4 million dollars will go amongst almost a thousand affected homeowners here in Herkimer County who EACH LOST thousands in necessary appliances such as water heaters and furnaces. I costs AT LEAST three-thousand bucks to replace even a low-end furnace with a new one, with a professional doing the install. And the state is using part of those monies to buy out homes that are no longer inhabitable. I guess something from the state is better than nothing at all though.
