Thank you (my family was for it) but feel worse for the kids. This is what happens when decisions are made with an improper focus. This was supposed to be about education, not taxation, politics & school bragging rights. Go back & look at merger posts if you have the stomach for it. The eye was clearly taken off the ball. It seems that the vote sealed at least the short term fate of this community. Hoping for a rebound but who knows? Many will try to leave to seek more opportunity for their kids (at least many parents I talk to-not sure if that's a common theme though), but who will be able to sell their home for a decent price in a place where there may be no school, or a school that offers nothing extra like sports, advanced courses, etc? Does anyone know if there are more options? That is an honest question by the way so no need to attack which I see is common here. I am not a school administrator and I do not know all of the state regs which is why I ask.

Join one of the facebook merger sites. They have BOE members, administrators and even teachers answering question and giving feed back.

My understanding is to keep what we are offering our kids now about the same for the next budget year the tax cap will need to be lifted. That vote needs to show 60% of residents in favor of raising it. Then I hear numbers like a 24%(or higher) raise in taxes just to maintain our sad state of educational programs. All this for an education that isn't what it was 5yrs ago. And what about next year and years after, will we need to lift the tax cap every year??? That is what it looks like. Where does it stop?

So not true it would be way more like 100% increase with cuts look at the numbers they still are factoring in the 164million the feds are giving to the state...another hopeless string governor Cuomo already has set in place extended school....more money plus a dissolved district plan..hence herkimer Frankfort whom can't provide a education higher than a fry cook at your favorite restaurant...get your head out...so freaking stupid you are...

A 5 or 6 % increase would cover it. About $3 a week to taxpayers.

You either don't know how to read or live on welfare....15% tax increase was announced at the last BOE meeting to stay as we are now. Tell this to all of the property owners who lost a tax DECREASE when the merger vote was bought with pizza. That will make it a 30% increase compared to what we'd be paying if the merger had passed. Thank you to the fools of Herkimer. Hope you enjoy keeping your identity as the dumbest assholes in the state!
