Why should I attend? I didn't push the vote, you did. I was told the merger was a pack of lies and exaggerations. What? Not true?

Residents want to know what is going on.

You assholes protested, made calls and went door to door to get the merger voted down.

My thoughts after the Merger was voted down was to simply wait for the horrendous upcoming budget to be realized by all this July 2013. I was convinced after seeing the "brutal" situation we are in and understanding how we were duped into voting no, our year and a day vote in Nov. of 2013 would surely pass.

But our BOE gave up our right to the year and a day vote option. So we are stuck to fend for ourselves. Isn't that wonderful? But I'm sure you already understood that.

Yes the BOE did give that right up to vote again but they felt we have held up Ilion/Mohawk long enough. The BOE felt our district said no we should go in another direction now. The No people have spoken.

The board should have let us with every possible option. I voted no which I'm starting to think was a bad move on my part.

But removing options IS NUTS.

Herkimer schools will dissolve in a few years at most, if not sooner. You cannot get blood from a stone. Have been trying not to cast stones at no voters because it is everyone's right to vote on their own beliefs & ideas. But this is obvious. That no vote is really going to do a number on this town. Lets hope this town can have a comeback like others have but with this school situation that will be a long tough road.

Preliminary Herkimer budget. Cutting all sports, staff/admin cuts, other cuts, and still coming up short. Should be in paper this week the board meeting was last night.

I hope if you see your lovely "no" neighbors in public you ask them how that stance is working out for them. Perhaps call up Kathy Williams and ask her how many bake sales she's planning on holding and see if Jeff Klock can whip you up a big sign for the school listing all the cuts that are coming in the budget.

All true but that's the way it's done. Oppenheim-Ephratah voted to merge with St. Johnsville under the exact same circumstances. I give the Herkimer BOE credit and I condemn them at the same time. The kids are screwed because of short-sighted adults and it's a shame the kids will be punished.
