I just read his ad for "Burrito Rollers" on Craigslist in the "Jobs" section. Check it out! Look at all he wants out of his prospective employees yet notice on the compensation line how it says "to be determined at interview". I saw this same ad on Craigslist a few months ago for the new store in Herkimer and the comensation line had $8.00 an hour listed for the same positions!! Whoo-Hoo!! WOW, John Winters! How many kids will I be able to feed and raise on $8.00 an hour?? I'll be lucky if I can feed myself AND pay my rent AND buy Gas for my car And pay my cell phone bill and National Grid. And what's that, Mr. Winters?? You also want me to DELIVER YOUR burritos to YOUR customers with MY car when YOUR customers are too lazy to get off of their fat asses and walk or drive over to the store and pick the food up themselves??? Is there anything else you require of me, Mr. Winters, in order to get that generous $8.00 an hour from you?? Shine your shoes maybe??
Seems to me that you haven't planned very well in life, if you are looking at an $8.00 and hour job, with kids and normal life bills... Do everyone a favor and do not apply, it's obvious you wouldn't last anyway. Keep on with the government check...... oh, and your welcome for that....

Okay, John Winters, thanks for the life advice. Are you a certified life coach now also, aside from being a way-too-demanding jerk of a prospective boss/employer?? After reading that employment ad on Craigslist I don't see why anyone in their right mind would apply for ANY position within your organization. I think I'll collect unemployment a little longer, until I can do better than $8. or $9. an hour. I'm getting $296 a week now, AFTER I have the state take out 12.5% in taxes, and I doubt I'd come close to that busting my ass for you, Mr. Winters--so I think I'll stay home until something way better than what you have to offer comes along.

If such an ad existed on craigslist, certainly you would have linked to it here. Makes you a liar.
You need to go back on Craigslist for the Utica, Rome, Oneida area, and scroll down a few days--I think it's to this past Sunday or Monday, to find it. Not too much work for you, is it??

Why would I go looking for something someone else claimed was there? Its their job to prove it, not mine. If I made the claim then I would have linked to it.

I had lunch at Burrito Jonz last week. Winter told me that "I delivered the paint" to the Herkimer store. There are a bunch of flyers up around the store announcing that if there is not more "support", they are "moving to Syracuse and Herkimer". The food was disappointing.

on the BJ Facebook page the owner says he's shutting the Utica store if business doesn't pick up and people don't buy his burritos ...

implicit in this is that > CUSTOMERS < are somehow are fault LOL LOL LOL

no fault of the restaurant of course. it's the customer's fault for not showing up and buying his undersized burritos.

just like it was Nick Macri's fault that the Herkimer deal went pear shaped

What a crazy day. First I was walking around downtown Herkimer and happened to look up to the sky and spotted a pig flying.

Just as the pig disappeared from view, my iPhone went off with a severe weather alert from my Weather Channel app that hell had frozen over.

Next, I started walking up Main Street and found that actual work, like painting, was under way at the alleged Burrito Jonz location.

Shaken by these events, I decided I best repair to the American Legion for a couple of cold beers and there heard the rumor that Moe's Southwest Grille had been scouting several Herkimer locations to open a new restaurant just like in Utica.

What a crazy day.

If you want to know why the Village and the Valley are failing. Investments like Burrito Jonz is your answer. When the IDA and the village can be dooped by a guy of this caliber you know the end is near. When this is the best the Village Trustees see as investment industry. There's your sign " Burrito Jonz". If they finally do open you will see all the morons you voted for showing up for the photo Op. Personally I'd be embarrassed put my face or name on this. Be sure to match the faces with the names, and vote the morons back in the next election cycle.

the money granted to Burrito Jonz is but a mere pittance of what the County IDA has wasted on handouts to friends and family. Casale is one of those tax eaters. You should be looking at the big fish costing you tens of thousands.

And don't forget the zillions wasted and still being wasted on a jail that will probably never be built. Ask your misleaders on the county legislature where that 1/4% sales tax money has been going that they claim is for a jail fund. They just petitioned the State to extend that increase a few more years. Ask about the HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of DOLLARS they have already wasted on studies and plans for several sites they will never be able to use.

And you're worried about a guy looking to open a burrito joint on Main Street that is littered with boarded up storefronts?

John Winter the owner of Burrito Jonz failed to make his first mandated repayment of the $15,000 loan he received from the village ($270 due on April 1).

Of course, that’s not his fault – he blames the village for not informing him where to mail the check.

LOL what a TOOL! Worse, a scammer.

The village offices are a half-block from the alleged Burrito Jonz location and we guess he can’t walk over and make his payment. Or pick up the phone if he feels a specific agency/address. Or use common sense and mail a check and letter to “Village of Herkimer” with the village offices address.

Check out his nutty post on the Burrito Facebook page in which he claims Herkimer officials are “pathetic” and Main St.“looks like crap.”

How’s Herkimer location coming along you ask? Good but the village is no help once again.

See attached official jpeg of Nick Macri's letter to us, the owners of BURRITO JONZ. First our names are spelled wrong and second there is no so-called "table" enclosed.

Instead of picking up the phone to call us or our business advisors at SUNYIT, which would not have cost the tax payer a dime, Macri has chosen to spread his peacock feathers once again, and billed the taxpayers of Herkimer an unnecessary charge for this draft of a letter.

Way to go Macri. You’re a class act. You really know how to get business to Herkimer and then support them for a WIN/WIN for the people of Herkimer.

Maybe this is why Main Street looks like crap. Macri and the Herkimer leadership are pathetic.

Even in Macri's legal letter he sent us today, he refuses to provide a village department phone number or any other helpful information on how to pay the loan. Instead he uses his time to threaten a BRAND NEW business in town.

He spends more time, which equates to the taxpayers of Herkimer's money, to write threatening letters instead of providing helpful information to pay the loan. Macri is an embarrassment to the people of Herkimer. So, someone needs to let us know where to send check.

In the months leading up to this letter Macri has spoken with Burrito Jonz ZERO times.
He had us, on his instruction, doing his work for him trying to file paperwork with the wrong departments, agencies, counties until we found out on our own that it was a state issue.

Everyday people walk into the Utica Jonz and when Macri is mentioned they simply "give that look"; you know the one, the one that shows that everyone in Herkimer knows how clueless he is. He has such a great reputation.

We are asking nicely to have Macri or any village official provides us with, what to write on the check as payee, an address, a department, or simply a person’s name at the village offices, so that we can pay the loan that THE PEOPLE OF HERKIMER have graciously let us borrowed.

I have sent a copy of this email & Macri's letter to the local paper like always because I don't trust the local government of Herkimer. They are capable of doing anything. First the village clerk harassed us using official email on official village time and now Macri’s letter. Who knows what they are capable of doing next. Feel free to use this email in the opinion page anywhere in your paper or the Observer Dispatch.

Jonz will be open soon. We are sorry for the delay. If the village had come through with the loan on time back in early fall, Jonz & our landlord, would have been able to open on time. The landlord and I have worked hard to get this second location of Burrito Jonz open despite of the non-existent help from the Village of Herkimer's ruling class. The village officials & the village attorney Macri actually think it is their money that is being lent, but we know it is the taxpayers money, and for that we thank you for providing some funds so we can bring the Burrito Jonz experience to you.
