Make wise use of the situation and have students attend an AA meeting or hear a MADD mother speak about the personal tradgedies of irresponable drinking, and peer pressure!

Has it occured to anyone that athletic talent in a HIGHER level of play might just mean something at higher levels; like Div. I and II? Has it occured to anyone that our kids are getting SCREWED academically because of the lack of courses which is driven by a lack of bodies to present them at a reasonable cost? Has it occured to anyone that unless it has changed since I was last across the pond, the students are SEPERATED by examination somewhere around the eighth grade as to who continues in academics and who goes to trade school and isn't even around for later testing?THINK! THINK!

no ilion is not blamimg anyone else but the only reason "quick action" took place is because they were worried about investigations.

Shame on Ilion for RUINING Frankfort's home-coming with their punishment. If they wanted to teach the students in Ilion a lesson, why not suspend them from the game the next Friday, Ilion's Homecoming? Oh no .... that wouldn't be fair ... NOT!!! Ilion's decision to ruin Frankfort's Homecoming is shameful, at best, and the decision makers that doled that punishment out should be held accountable. I was planning to attent Ilion's game on Friday, but in light of these events, myself and several others will be boycotting it by not attending.
That is pretty funny since Frankfort kids were at the party with the Farley kid. Ilion did not RUIN Frankfort's homecoming they gave them the win so they wouldn't be ashamed by the beating Ilion would have gave them. Think it as a gift that 10 of the starter football players from Frankfort didn't get blown in and they received a win under their belt I think it is absolutely hilarious that people bash the Ilion Kids and the parents of the kid where the party was-who by the way were at a function and didn't know there was a party until they got home and threw everyone out and you can't put you REAL name. It is you that is the coward, maybe you are affriad to find out YOUR kid was there Drinking

People are saying that Alan Steele is a bad role-model. How many of you know him on a personal level? Or have you just not heard great thing about him. He is a great guy who does nothing but support every kid on the team, whether they are a star or not. He never said, "There is no video so don't admit it." All the Herkimer players who were there have admitted to it, and will be taking there suspension now. So everyone who is bashing Steele can keep it to themselves now.

And you need to go back to grade school. The word is, "their" (twice). This statement above is quite indicitive of what the real problem is around here. People are more interested in throwing a ball around than getting an education to prepare themselves for the real world. "Would you like to super-size that?" is all that need be said...

"All the Herkimer players who were there have admitted to it, and will be taking there suspension now."

Hmmmm. And once again --- the word is, "their". Seems like we have an epidemic of placing sports in front of education (even at a fifth-grade level, no less). And no --- don't even think to state that it was a typo.

I really think this area should move itself to Texas, where football is king and education is a convenience rather than a priority. "Would you like a chocolate shake with that?"

And here, we need the word, "they're" --- not "there". Either all of you are ignorant parents or kids that better think about remedial English class. So, here's your assignment:

What is the difference between "there", "their", and "they're" ? Apparently in this area, nothing. "Would you like an apple pie with that cheeseburger?"

High school sports..how scandalous. Really people, it's time to get on with it. There (not their or they're) is a whole world out there beyond the valley. Truth of the matter is that we are all lucky no one got hurt, kids are going to party whether we like it or not, and it's our jobs as parents to teach them the dangers of drinking at any age to prepare them for life in college, after college, as young professionals, etc. Let these kids learn their lesson, use it as a marker in their life for pointing out the impact (actual & potential) of bad decisions, and move on. By the way, stop bashing administrators & coaches. I'd like to see any one of us make the call that pleases every parent out there. Having read some of the nasty posts on here, there is no such person who could please them all.

This reply is obviously from a total a**. First of all learn to spell, it's "their" and not "there"!!, second as coach (and I have coached) you are supposed to be a roll-model for kids to follow, on and off the field. So if a coach publically appears intoxicated very frequently, then yes it is a problem.
You call someone for a spelling error...then spell roll-model instead of role-model...what an ass...typical valley idiot

OK so what Parent bought the beer and hosted the party? Oh that's right "I was not home and found the large group at my house when I returned". That story has been told way to many times. Give me a break, mom and dad bought the beer, told junior only a few kids and it got out of hand. Truth starts with the parents. I still think that it was wrong that the Frankfort kids Homecoming weekend was wrecked because of this mess. Why not suspend Ilion players from Ilion's Homecoming game. What a SLAP in the face for Ilion Central, I hope that the police arrest the parents.
Mind your own business. Nobody was hurt by the party.

When a high school drinking party makes the local newspaper and televion newscast several times, it is not your typical teenage party. That many drinking teenagers in one location is a high risk situation.

The only thing these will kids will learn from this experience is that if enough of them get together and party the adults will be unable to enforce their own "code of conduct" due to the devastating impact on the sports teams.

How about the real question. Does anybody care how or who these kids got the alcohol from. Make everyone accountable. This shit is happening in high schools all over and obviously the punishment is not great enough to make it stop. Schools just want to brush under a rug. They broke the law! Not just school conduct. When you break the law you have consequences. That's why people don't go around killing people or stealing or speed . For the most part. They know there are consequences.

Mr. Tangora - Enforce the code of conduct to the letter or you are sham. This couldn't happen at a worse time for you, could it?

What are the costs to the taxpayers for each of these law-breaking athletes? I know it costs an average of $16,000 for each and every student in the Ilion school system per year.
