Here is the original article from WKTV January 31 at 4:45pm. It was changed February 1, probably after someone from the Tangorra clan called WKTV to complain that it makes Tangorra look bad. So WKTV, in it's full propaganda machine rather than news organization form, changed it. Notice they took out the specifics on how it would have little impact on the school. Anyway, here it is saved on the internet for all to see, until somehow they figure out how to remove that as well.

Here it is just in case they strongarm their way into figuring out how to remove it from the web.

Title was: "Superintendent: If Remington Arms were to leave, little impact on tax revenue for a combined school district"
Article body was:
ILION, N.Y.(WKTV)- Thursday night marks the public's last chance to get their questions answered and get information on the Mohawk-Ilion school merger vote taking place within the next two weeks. Thursday's meeting is being held at 6pm at Ilion High School. If approved at the February 12 vote, the two districts would become one as of July 1, 2013. There has been some buzz over how a possible Remington arms departure could impact the reorganization of the districts. Ilion Superintendent Cosimo Tangorra says the only change would be the tax revenue, and it's small. "Currently, Remington Arms pays about 1.4 percent of a total levy in the Ilion Central School District," Tangorra said. "That same amount, if it was paid, to combine Ilion and Mohawk, it would be less than one percent. While we don't want to lose any tax revenue, it's not as if they pay that much." The reconfiguration would result in an elementary school in both districts, a middle school in Mohawk and a high school in Ilion.

No one wants Remington to leave but the fact is the school system is FAR from dependent on Remington's 1% tax contribution. This means you'll have to keep searching for a reason to get people to vote no. And why are you searching?

Herkimer and Frankfort would kill to have a 1% problem.

When Remington leaves and takes their 1%(see nobody's saying how much that really is), and the people that work there can't pay their share - hello Mohawk taxpayers. People cry over .25%- you think they're gonna be happy with what Remington takes with them? Call Mr. Cuomo, maybe he'll help...... oh wait we're the wrong area code....

All I'm saying is how his $170,000 a year job has made him so arrogant that he would even states these claims that it won't do the school much harm if they leave. After being told "what the hell did you say that for" they worked to remove it from the news. This is the kind of person we have running the school. Otherwise why remove it from the news.

Oh and if Ilion is so great, why does he have his kids go to school in Herkimer when he is superintendent of Ilion and is able to have them go to Ilion instead. That tells you something about Herkimer right there.

Herkimer has the least amount of programs/opportunity to hold a young persons interest. 30 out of a 100 drop out of herkimer yearly. When those 30 losers melt back into the community every year it creates a major financial problem for all of us and it's a vicious cycle. Herkimerís drop out rate is the worst in the valley and Herkimer has been put on notice by the state.

After the merger Cos's kids will be attending the new school.

Remington's property tax assessment is about 1% of Ilion's 25 million dollar tax base. If we merge Remington's school tax (about $50,000) in a district with a $40 million dollar budget is about a 1/2%. It's not an issue.

Also, when a property owner does not pay their school taxes the school district is reimbursed by the county. If they remain unpaid, the county bears that burden, not the school. So, Herkimer County pays whether the districts are merged or not. So again it's not an issue.

Good article. And to 'what a clown': don't bank on it. His kids are doing just fine in Herkimer. See, without the incentive aid there is no chance for him to get another big raise.

'Not true': and how does the county pay the school these unpaid taxes, it gets tacked onto your t&c property tax bill. You think they get it from the money tree? We all pay for it. Cosimo is such a moron to say it does't matter. And you are a moron for following him.

Tell us how he gets a raise if the merger goes though. This is too funny. Do you just make this up as you go along.

Here's your problem, we saw the bs at the last election and how screwed herkimer is at this time. It doesn't work twice.

Hell, Frankfort has cancelled spring sports.

You're funny. Check into it dumbazz.

Hey loser, every county is in on the hook for school tax that goes unpaid by a property owner. Just a side note, our county is in the black and in great shape. Also the Arms is going nowhere.

I'm wondering, if Remington's tax is less than 1% for just Mohawk and Ilion what would it be to the entire county??? A fart in the wind I'm guessing. Too funny.

The uninformed thought if we merged and the Arms left, Mohawk would be stuck paying the tax bill. Not true.

Merger or NOT if the Arms were to stopped paying school taxes the school district is reimbursed by the county. The amount is added to the county taxes. The cost of those unpaid taxes is spread over all of the property taxpayers in Herkimer County.

Mohawk residents would be affected the same in either situation, MERGER OR NOT.

You're saying if all the businesses and private residence taxpayers of a valley village went away, then nobody's property taxes would go up - except for the county taxes which would go up the same for everybody - ......... I can't stand it. Maybe for the first year of the default - after that - the school taxpayers of that village are up for the whole bill - if not for the first. Where people get their info is beyond me. One of the reasons Herkimer's been in trouble is because 50% of their properties don't pay taxes. Don't think people are stupid. $200 more in taxes is a lot for me, maybe not for you, but it is for me.

You're catching on, the county bares the burden.

And if $200 is a lot and it is for me, we need a merger.

50% of Herkimers tax problem is property that is tax exempt.

The county doesn't pick up 50% of school taxes for Herkimer because 50% of Herkimer is exempt. The property owners who do pay taxes pay 100% of the bils. Get a clue people of Mohawk - if the merger goes through and Remington goes out (let's all pray they stay) you're footing the bill.

Are you impaired?

READ IT AGAIN...

The county bares the burden of unpaid taxes.

A SIDE NOTE...Part of Herkimers tax problem, is that many properties in herkimer are tax exempt. Which places the burden on their property taxpayers.
