Which day care do most people like better? I will be starting a new job and need information on which one to use.

I would not put my kid in any daycare. Day cares are worst then schools when it comes to germs being passed around. Do you really want your kid to be sick all the time. Find a babysitter that you trust.Ask your church if they can recommend one.

As an early childhood educator, I think daycares are a great idea. Depending on the place, germs won't always be a problem. Look for a quality place that smells clean and has obvious cleaning procedures posted and signs that they are being followed. A babysitter is good for maybe up to one or two at the latest, but children need the socialization and early education they can get through a daycare or preschool. If they don't get out around all those germs and other kids, they're actually going to be more susceptible to them. They may catch a few things here and there, but all kids will at some point and the socializing and educational benefits are worth it.
As a preschool teacher, I saw some kids who started with us when they were already 4 or so, the year just before kindergarten. If they've only been around one or two other kids at a home daycare, babysitter, or home alone with their parents all that time, the kid would come in and have such a hard time because they were socially inept. They were the "outcasts" of the preschool and it took longer to get them acclimated and to play with other kids. Just my opinion on this topic... I thought this was a Pevely board, I couldn't even tell you where Waterloo is? I know in Pevely Victory Church on Hwy Z has a great program. I would steer clear of chain daycares like Childtime or Kindercare, they are usually more corporate or business minded than privately owned, more compassionate places. |

When my child started kindergarten his teacher told me that she could tell that he was the only one that went to preschool. She was wrong and later told me that she found out he was the only one who didn't go to preschool. Just my two cents.
My son was around two other children during the day and was well socialized. He was rarely sick and is a healthy teen now. My neighbor's kid does go to daycare and he is always sick. His poor nose is always running. No allergies. |

That's great for your kiddo. But in seeing a lot of different kids and school years, yours is more the exception rather than the rule.

I love Daytime Discoveries. I started sending my 3yr. old son there the beginning of Sep.and he has thrived. He used to be in a home setting with a few other kids. He has been sick less in daycare than he did at the home babysitter. Give them a call....all the teachers and both directors are great!!

My children go there. Both the owner and the director get rave reviews from my kids. In fact all the teachers and aids are loved by my kids. The facility is clean; the teachers are cheerful and engaged. The children are always coming home having done new activities to stimulate their minds. At their own expense, the daycare puts on activities with which the parents can watch or get involved.
I have had no bad experiences associated with Daytime Discoveries. |

Daytime Discoveries staff do not have internet use in their classrooms, therefor this statment is a false accusation. |

The fabulous staff at DD did it again. They just hosted (at their own expense) a Christmas recital. The kids sang songs their were treats and refreshments for all who attended and even Santa made an appearance. The parents got to visit the kids class rooms and hang around to visit afterwords. It was a very nice experience.
