The told us in their campaign adds that they would not raise our tax's but they never mentioned building a new jail. Now that they are safe and thru the primarys they are talking about building a monster jail. Why didn't they talk about this during the elections. This new jail will cost the tax payers 10 million to build and another $15 or $20 million to operate and maintain. People that's $25 to $30 million dollars. The average taxpayer will pay $250 to $500 more per year in tax's. Any councilman or commissioner that votes for this is voting to raise our tax's. Of course there will be a nice sign on the wall with all of their names on it. Our tax's going up so these guys can have their name on a wall is very upsetting for me. Oh yes and they want a basement that will cost another million dollars. They should worry more about the people of Scott county instead of worrying about the inmates having a nice recreation room. What are they thinking? People Can hardly survive now with the price of gas going up and very few good jobs in available. They did not talk about in the primary but there is still an election in november but by then it will be too late because they will have already voted to build it. God help the taxpayers of Scott County because our elected officials are not going to help us.

Vote Republican and stop this insanity. Lower taxes and less of the givaway programs. Stop worrying about if the prisoners have a nice warm place to sleep at night.

You all need to wisen up and realize that there are more and more crimes these days. It isnt just up to the judges and prosecutors. They eventually get out, only to return again on new charges. What are they supposed to do instead of building a new jail? Put them on Home incarceration so they can continue to do stupid things. It isnt a republican or democrat problem. It's a criminal issue that will only be addressed by expanding to a bigger jail. You can only keep a person in jail so long. When they do their time, they get to start all over again. Drugs, Robbery, Burglary, Assualt, Sex crimes, etc are not going anywhere.

Example- A guy about 25 from a temp service did some work in our warehouse at a company I was help managing. He just got out of jail 4 weeks ago, and I thought it was great our company was giving him the opportunity as a felon to start over, plus he had fines to pay. The young man after 3 days said, "Fxxx this"...I would rather go back to jail. He said he was serious...3 meals a day, no bills, TV, schooling, rec time, see their family and don't hv to do sxxx. Plus he got in time to claim a tax check that I think the state should have given back to the county for sucking up the taxes payers money for his nice stay with no responsibilities! At least he partied hard when he got out!

OK...then what is the true reasons why the same criminals keep coming back and putting themselves in the same situations that they just got "so called" punished for?

You elect the same deadbeat liars everytime, Amick,Tobias,Hays LOL and wonder why the county keeps getting screwed and the taxes get raised and it benefits the people of the county zero. You would think you would vote for a change, I mean they meet twice a month have refreasments raise your taxes, come up with ways to screw the county tax payers even more and go home. And the worst part of this is they get paid good money for 4 or 5 hours of work a month and get to screw people over along the way and it's legal, pretty good deal screw people take their money and get paid for it. Make a change Scott County it is worth a try to get some new faces in charge.

1.) Create a rehabilitation plan that works and followed up on it.(get probation officers to get off their ass and out of the office wld help some and maybe people wld follow the program!)
2.) All these young punks that's following their screwed up parents footsteps or are making all the wrong choices...give them a choice...Years in jail or join the military. Come on people...they need to be restructured and 9 times out of 10...they need to be proud of something positive.
3.) Create a work program system to help with rehabilitation with the work one center to be more "useful". That a lot of tax $ that needs to b put to better use n a mighty fine building... People needs to find hope that they don't hv to keep doing and selling the same things. What options they cld hv for good job if they followed a work program.

We could be doing so much more for our community ....

Life can be better, people still care, dreams are still possible, people still do want others to do good, and you can still be loved.

Gov.Pence lowers our tax by .05% and our County commissioners raise our tax for a new jail. We can't win. At least the prisoners will be happy.
