i went to school with andrew dezio, and even though i did not personally know andrew i feel the loss in our school. walking through the hallways is surreal, the laughter and futile gossip that was, isnt there anymore. though im sure it will return, we all morn and feel the loss of our fellow student. i think this tradgedy made us realize that our "problems" with life are so small. we miss you andrew dezio.-fellow student

I couldn't believe the news when I heard Andrew's death was a suicide. How sad is it that a 15yr thinks there is nothing left in life and ends it all. I just wish there were 'signs' that would have prevented this unfortunate tragedy.

God Bless you Andrew. You will be deeply missed my friend.

in the city,
Why would that matter? It sure doesnt make the healing for the family or friends any easier, It is a sad situation and all that matters is healing..... I see people like you everyday and you guys are sick. How would you like it if it was your family and someone wanted to know how and why they did it off the news? Think before you type.

To the family, Im sorry for your loss and may god bless you

suicide is on the rise, I live in Wayne County, and last year (just in Newark)we lost countless number of young adults through suicide. Something needs to be available whether it is through our schools, churches, community centers, gyms, etc. for young people to turn to when they are in need. It is none of our business how we did it, and my heart goes out to the family, especially his father, who maybe feeling guilt at this time, since he argued with his son that last time he saw him.

This ending to this story is so sad. My condolences to the family in hopes that they find some peace. Teen suicide is so prevalent today. Why? we ask ourselves. The answer to that question and many more will never be answered.

JACKASS, even though I hate the fact that I am wasting my time replying to you .... here goes. Suicides are generally a culmination of a lot of issues/problems, etc. How dare you "slap the face" of this father - he was being a parent! I know that I enforce rules at my house - and yes - we have arguements. What, should I let my child run the house? Disregard any rules? Yeah - lets see what that does to a generation. Teens have a lot going on in there life that could cause them stress and depression - unfortunately, some can hide these feelings very well, but these feelings take over - They take over to the point where they feel there is no other way than out.

To the family who lost this young man, my prayers are with you.

To Jackass,
You are terrible to say this to that dad. That family has gone through a lot of change in the last 3 years.
Mom died from Cancer and a new step mom and step children in the family. Dad was doing his best to bring his family back to normal for his 2 sons. You must realize as a man you do not just share how your feelings. Who's to say that this young man just decided he had enough change in his life and one more thing would break the camels back.
At this time we should be reaching out to the family, friends and Penfield community to help them through this. Let our children know everywhere that what they have to say is important and we will listen no matter what they say. Sometimes our kids know better than us and we might just learn something from someone younger than us.
I have 3 girls and am a stay at home mom, my girls tell me every thing no matter what and we work through these problems that might be really small to you and me but gigantic to them.

So Jackass get your head out of your ass and learn how to be a better and more compassionate jackass

I last saw Andrew over the summer, as always he was a engaging freindly cheerful polite and respectful kid. If there was a change I didn't see it. He was a great kid who was liked by all who knew him. His father did a great job raising Andy and his Brother as a single Father, this is evident with the older brother's character also.
I have known this family for years and just can't belive it. I can't imagine how they will ever cope with such an unexplained devestating loss. May God bless them and help them some how come to terms with this loss.

Reply to Jackass, your name sums you up bigtime. This had nothing to do with a video game and Andrew's father is not to blame.

My heart felt sympathy goes out to Andrew's family. Being the parent of a 16 year old and a 13 year old who went through depression I know first hand how difficult it is raising children. "Signs", sometimes we can't see them, I found out about my daughter's depression through a concerned parent of her friend who was smart enough to let me know so I could get her help. I am blessed that things worked out.

I have no words to help Andrew's family heal, just know that many people are praying for you and for Andrew to have found peace in the arms of his mother in heaven. I am so sorry for your great loss.

hey jackass; you dont know the whole story. and it's not his dad's fault anyways. Sadly, but truly, he chose it.
I don't believe that he intentionaly killed him self. The fact that he chose to put himself in that position and staying outside for so long, that is what they considered suicide. But it doesn't matter... it doesn't change anything. He's still gone.

Andrew; you will forever be in our hearts. Rest in peace.
I appologize.

My husband, my son and myself knew Andy quite well and we have been sick over his death. I have cried for this child every day since we learned of him missing. It is incredibly painful. We cannot imagine the agony his dad and brother and family are suffering. We desperately wish we could ease their pain and are thinking of them constantly. We get periods of distraction. His family won't get any relief for who knows how long.

It is so sad that teens often don't realize that help is available if only they could reach out. My God, I would have raised Andy myself if needed. I just liked him that much. I do know though that his dad is a great dad and was always doing his best raising the boys alone. We spent a lot of time with them at hockey games and tournaments over the years. They always made us laugh. We enjoyed them so.

I pray that Andy is at peace and that he is with his mom. Who knows how much that void played a part in his world growing up and possibly even in his death. We all respond to whay life deals us so differently. I just want to hug him and tell him that he is loved so much. So many will miss him. If only he knew this.

God Bless you Andy,
We will remember you always in our hearts,

in response to the people the topic of how...

when a story like this is in the news the whole community is impacted. countless people hope, pray, and unfortunately mourn. our heart goes out to the family and even those who do not know the people are vicariously traumatized. we try very hard to make sense of a situation like this. in this situation the how matters because it makes a big difference in our understanding of the situation if he froze to death or took more active measures to end his life. it is so sad when you see a young kid who thinks that things are so awful that he has to end it. he canot fathom that he still has his whole life to come to terms with what bothers him. on a personal note, this story touches me as a parent and a psychologist. i am striving to make sense of it and understand. i am looking for bits of info that can be helpful to prevent other teen suicides. i guess what i am trying to say is that i too am interested in the how not because i am morbid, but because i am desparately trying to make sense of this tragedy.

This sounds like a rumor to me. Unless you were there when he was found I wouldn't start spreading rumors.
