I was riding the river in my boat today and say some people on the tennessee side of the river. i pulled up to the place where they were sitting on the bank and she told me that it was hwy 78 or 178 that went across to the hatchie river. is anyone familiar with how to get down to that open area right there on the river. i saw some cars right on the other side of the tree line so there has to be a road. just wondering if anyone knew what that little landing was called. also there was some topless women out there tanning.

It is Lauderdale County and that is where Hwy 87 ends They call that particular community, Fulton. Close to Ft. Pillow State Park. The property to the south of the road belongs to the O'Keefe family (Miles O'Keefe the actor who played Tarzan with Bo Derrick). The north side of the road eventually connects to Ft. Pillow. Most of the bank is washing in the river. It has moved back 200 or 300 feet in the last 10 years. The O'Keefe farm connects to the Lower Hatchie Wildlife Refuge Headquarters. Tipton County is on the south side of the Hatchie River.
