I think maybe its time for the county to split into East and West summit counties. Lets see what happens to the eastside when the cash cow is taken away. We all know that the westside endures the traffic, the pollution, the conjestion, the city sprawl to provide the jobs and huge tax base for eastsiders. Coalville city fathers have for years shun any commercial developedment so not to become "another Park City" (like a dirty word) yet have their hand out for the revenue brought in by the westside now they have both hands out. the Eastsde sez don't develope here cuz "we're agriculture" yet they too want to drink from the PC fountain. Quit yer whinning or take on some of the sprawl pollution or better, build a tax base to help yourself. this is just posturing, to bully the new counsel (the good ol' cowboy way), which they didn't want and feel they may not get representation. Play along or play alone

The property tax deposited into the county coffers from the Glenwild, Promontory and Colonies developments probably exceeds all of that paid by Eastern Summit County combined.
They pay full taxes and receive no road services and have next to no kids in the school districts. Do you hear them complaining? NO Quit whining Coalville before Western Summit goes it alone and leaves you all to pay your fair share for services you receive |

Promontory is in the East Side and the taxes all go to SS schools.

\ Promontory is geographically split between Eastern and Western Summit County - although the Promontory ethos is DEFINITELY Park City, not Coalville. As for school taxes, it is irrelevant - the folks who have homes at Promontory don't live there - those are all second home, so once again Eastern Summit Country benefits from the DOUBLE property taxes that second-home owners at Promontory pay so that other peoples' children can attend public school in SSC. But make no mistake - those second-home owners did not pay big bucks to be part of SSC - they paid it to be in zip code 84098, PARK CITY UTAH. The East is riding our coattails and calling us names while they enjoy the ride. |

Promontory is not all second homes. Lots of people live there who have kids. Their school taxes do all go to SS and their kids go to Park City schools.

Please define "lots of", i.e. how many homes at Promontory are a primary residence (a real one, not just for tax purposes)? And thanks for the facts - they are often hard to find on this site. |
