Letters about favoritism and sleazy behavior and nude male calendars on the wall in billing and the two male directors who were always loitering around acting and talking inappropriately; Tom will know exactly what we are saying. It was around the time the angry wife sent her letter to a few hundred people in Point.
None of that is the point, here, except for time reference because at about the same time, some of the nurses sent all of the hospital brass some letters and information and stats and web sites about STDs. We will give you a lot of information in the coming weeks. We will give you horrible, unbelievable statistics. We will give you web sites and information resources on the internet and otherwise; all endorsed by the Centers For Disease Control, The American Cancer Society, and The American Medical Association. HPV is incurable, and has been linked directly and positively in just very recent years to many, many forms of cancer besides the vast majority of cervical cancer in women, which has been known for several years.
HERE IS THE HUGE QUESTION!!! Why would Tom, our Board, and our Physicians; why did they not take this request and jump on it and run with it? They still haven't!

Amazing what most of us seem not to know a thing about it. Some things I have now learned and passed onto my teenage kids:

There is no cure for HPV , Just like there is no cure for HIV/AIDS

Both are MUTATING viruses

If you have ANY incurable STD ,it makes you more vulnerable and less immune to any other STD, including HIV

Condoms offer almost NO protection from HPV

ALL medical articles from any reliable source since 2010, emphasize the epidemic nature of the links between HPV and many forms of cancer, in addition to the one already known, cervical cancer in women. Because of the increase in the acceptance of the practice of oral and anal sex, the increases in all types of oral and congenital and colorectal cancers has been positively linked to HPV being one of the primary causes for the dramatic increase in such cancers in the past 20 years.

If you love your children and grandchildren, or just even care a out the health of anyone and everyone, read the articles. This is not a hoax or morbid humor or getting the rumors going romantic that kind of junk you usually find on here. This is very serious and legit. You need to know.

SEARCH: "HPV CANCER Center For Disease Control"

"HPV CANCER American Cancer Society"

"HPV CANCER Oral Anogenital Penile Vaginal Rectal Mouth Throat Anus Uterine Ovarian Nasal Center For Disease Control (CDC) American Cancer AIDS FOUNDATION MAYO CLINIC"

HPV is much more common than AIDS, and probably deadlier when you add in the deaths from cervical cancer in women. ANY bodily fluids can transmit it, you don't even have to have penetration sex, per se.

For the Publics' information, I have just received multiple tweets from other nurses trying to post replies and info for you on this thread from a local wi fi , and having those responses flash on the topix site, then immediately disappear. Who could possibly NOT want the Public informed on this critical issue?

Search: " HPV Cancer articles 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 CDC "

"HPV Cancer Penile Scrotal Vaginal Anogenital Anal Rectal Colorectal throat mouth tongue naso uterine cervix cervical gum " American Cancer Society

Do same searches with Cleveland clinic and Mayo Clinic instead of . CDC or ACS.

HPV more deadly than HIV/AIDS if you count deaths from cervical cancer in women.

There is no cure for HPV, just as with . HIV/AIDS

Condoms DO NOT . prevent transmission of . HPV

any bodily fluids will transmit these mutating viruses

incubation period for infection can be years after exposure

PARENTS- you need to read and research, Now, not later.

Why should a business (PVH) be responsible for sleazy people. Are you "concerned PVH nurses" willing to take a pay cut to fund these programs?

Just asking.
Uh, why Don' t you start by reading the hospital original charter? Read all of their mission statements. Read all of their ads and articles on wellness and prevention. Read how they tell us all of the prevention stuff we already know like weight loss and exercise and quit smoking. Ever see them you h a topic as important as this? Compare the budget of the health Dept. for a year to the budget of PVH FOR A YEAR. Look at how much money PVH has spent on advertising and Public Relations over the past ten years telling us they are the best hospital around and selling us health care like MacDonalds sells hamburgers. How much have they spent on wellness and prevention? It is irresponsible and self- serving stewardship and management of our community owned hospital. Does any of this answer your question If you really look up the dollar amounts you will be amazed. BOB and other STDs are killing people, costing a fortune to diagnose and treat, and ruining the lives of many people who Don' t get the fatal kind yet. The emotional and psychological costs are inestimable.

Sadly, you probably work for, or manage PVH, AND LIKE SO MANY AT THE TOP THERE YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS WORKING IN HEALTH CARE.No professional health care worker would make such an asinine comment.

I was just wondering why the topics couldn't also be discussed in school health classes. I would think that would actually be an appropriate place to discuss the dangers of these kind of things & might even cause some kids to think about the consequences.

Are you kidding? "Asinine" ?? "Resembling asses and talking like idiots are people who believe that anything is ever really "free". Health care is a BUSINESS. That's how they are able to pay all the assilliary professionals that work at PVH. Are you willing to take a pay cut, volunteer your time, donate to an accout that would partner with PVH to educate your community, your students, be a positive adult in the life of kids you see every day.??? I can go on and on. Instead of slamming an employer in your community. Small hospitals are closing all over this country due to inflation and low reimbursement rates, if PVH CLOSES then your neighbor, students, your community as a whole will suffer a big loss. And you are wrong about me. I clean bedpans, wipe butts, work double shifts days in a row, being a nurse at PVH is what I do. Prevention us more than what anyone person, rescorce, or business can do and it starts at home and having sex with everyone, dragging a diff boyfriend in to live with your children us slimmy behavior and I'm not willing to call it anything else.

That's right. Respect for your body and teaching your kids the same thing will do more good than any amt of money PVH can cough up. Why not start PTEVENTION with a change of ATTITUDE.

I think their main interest is to run PVH down. Nobody has ever commented on why this is not a count health department issue. They probably can obtain grants for educational programs such as this.
Its so obvious they just want to rant.....blah,blah,blah....

You are right, I apologize.

I don't know what kind of resources Co Health has for the education within the schools but
Public health officials can give you information on how to control the spread of disease and prevent other cases within the school. Health officials can also give you information to help explain the disease to parents, students, staff and administrators. The Division of Infectious Disease Epidemiology (DIDE) maintains extensive information for the providers, the public.

There are vaccines available for prevention.
I have no idea how much these vaccines cost. I'm not sure if these are part of the vaccinations that are offered through county heath.....

The only sure way to prevent HPV is to abstain from sexual activity and be very chosey in regards to a lifetime partner. Being faithful partners is the key.

Good luck with getting schools to go along with trying to teach this to kids. Maybe they could have an informational meeting for parents. That's where it needs to be reinforced Kids take cues from mom and dad. It doesn't have to be a long lecture but a 1 minute devotions on important subjects go along way with kids.

You can always tell when the information on here about PVH gets too truthful and dicey on here and really hits a nerve with them because they use the clout of their advertising dollars to get the posts deleted. All of this is true and the facts are alarming, so this one will probably go too. For what our hospital spent on their last tv commercial glorifying themselves and stroking their own egos, they could have given every 12-14 yr. Old child not yet sexually active in three counties the Gardisil vaccination, and would have gotten a more positive return on their money than any tv commercial will ever give them. HPV is one of the biggest health threats in the U.S. And even most adults, let alone teens, know very little about it. Everyone still thinks oral and/or anal sex is "safe" sex because it avoids pregnancy. Education and wellness programs are badly needed.

Wrong! Anyone can have a post deleted from Topix. It has NOTHING to do with anyone's advertising dollars. All anyone has to do is contact Topix and ask for the inflammatory or defamatory post to be removed. Topix has undertaken this removal policy as a result of losing a 13.4 million dollar lawsuit in 2009. Topix has also undertaken the removal policy in response to requests made by Attorney Generals in 35 states. For you to come on here and sling crap about anyone "using clout" to get a post removed makes you look silly.

Yeah, yeah yeah. PVH chooses not to fund public service announcements and classes about your disease of interest. Boo hoo. But please, continue to come on here and preach from your pulpit about what PVH should or should not do and while you're at it keep weaving imaginary fairy tales about a grand conspiracy that includes a little hospital in Mason County controlling the internet. Your preoccupation with "the almighty and powerful" PVH diminishes your credibility and could cause someone in need to turn a blind eye to the importance of your message concerning HPV and other STDS. Stick to the facts and what you can prove. Leave the conspiracy theories to the nuts in tin foil hats.
