Good food for good prices (kinda home cooking):

TJ's Circle.....Kilgore (awesome breakfast too)
Big T's.......Kilgore
Both hole in the wall places, but the food you get for the prices is great!

I like the fried green beans at Hush Puppies. Their all you can eat catfish is good, too. So are the sauted shrimp. Wish we had more decent restaurants, though. Would give anything for a good steak, even a Chili's or Applebees. Whatever happened to all those rumors about getting something in the Lowe's parking lot?

I heard those establishments tried to come here. They want to serve alcohol and you know how that flies in this town. Anyone can get their alcohol license here. The thing is it is such a huge hassle they figure it is not worth the fight. Besides, FBC would boycott and have them run outta town in no time. Why do you think none have done it already? That's too bad. Although I don't drink, I feel we are missing out on finer food establishments coming here.

I actually liked Shark Tails. Their catfish and shrimp was good. I tried their stuffed flounder though and it seemed like it was shipped to them frozen and then heated up. Oh well, another one bites the dust.

I heard that the fish house had applied for thier license to serve alcohol, and then i noticed a sign saying they were open like tues - sat now. were they previously open mon - sunday? has it already started? just cause it was "rumored" they were applying for their license???

There isn't much in this town to choose from. If you're looking for variety try the lunch buffets at the Star Cafe or Smokehouse, you might find something that appeals to your tastebuds, since they have different things to try.

When we're in town, we hit up The Fishhouse and Jalapeno Tree. I'd like to find some place in East Tx with good sushi. I went to Herschells for the first time in about 15 years back in June. It was a pretty decent breakfast.

Not only does Frank n burger have the best burgers in town they have an excellent enchilada dinner. Sure beats Jalepeno tree. You get more food and it don't cost you $13. I avoid JT because their prices have gotten ridiculously high.
