What is this exactly? There was an incident in the weight room with the 8th grade football team on Thursday night where one boy ended up with a concussion! Several of the boys were involved.

"Smack Cam" is when people smack unsuspecting victims and then post online.

Looks to me like a form of bullying, should never happen at school.

I don't think the stand your ground law applies here. This happened on school property before 8th grade football games. It appears more than 1 young man was slapped in the face. I know of only ONE that suffered a moderate concussion from this. VERY anxious to see what HISD will do about the obvious ASSAULT & BULLYING!
Should I keep my "hopes up"??

If the parents don't press charges, the school should at the very least suspend the boys who were striking the victim, and when they return to the classroom they should NOT be allowed to play football for the rest of this year. (Just my humble opinion)

Sometimes justice is better served by the kinfolks. Waiting for an official response is a waste of time. Thugs better pray they never have the misfortune to mess with me or mine. Hurting people is a two way street.

Upon further review you are correct. Now Old Sterling ain't much on fighting but if someone felt the need to slap cam me I gotta think once I had recovered that possibly stalking, aggravated assault AND battery with a 33 inch 32 ounce ash wood Louisville Slugger would be the appropriate charges filed on myself. Maybe two homerun swings with one being aimed at each knee. I really disappoint myself when I think of violent things.

OMG, I agree that if a group of willing participants are horsing around and someone gets hurt, a slap on the wrist and a warning, "hey guys, don't do that again", is appropriate. It is my understanding that in this situation the injured child was NOT a willing participant, and was just trying to get away.

Unless you were there you really don't know. Horsing around is one thing, but "Slap Cam" is a little to far. We can't pass judgment on what happened or who was involved. We are dealing with 12-14 year olds let be real. The one who got injured could have been innocent, or he could have been involved and when it was done to him hewas mad because it happened to him and scared of the cconsequences. It boils down to that they should be taught by parents, teachers, coaches to act better, and they should have been supervised.
